There are only a few games that give me a hard time to finish. Not because they're hard, but because they're either horribly dull or have so many design issues that they make me not want to finish them.

I had to try playing Darkwood, not once, not twice, but four times to finally get through to the end. Not because the game is hard, but because it's horribly dull. The monotony of what you do every day sets in quickly, and you need to force yourself to get to the end. It's a shame really, because there was clearly a lot of talent put into this game, and if you're really REALLY hungry for survival horror games, I think this one has its own flavor and might suit you, but personally I think it fell on the weaker side.

The game is semi-randomly generated (mostly the position of key locations and items) and I don't understand why, besides stopping people from writing guides online about where the specific items are, there is no value from being randomly generated. There's no replay value in this game unless you are doing achievement hunting. The resources are either too little at the start or too many at the end, and the game can never hit that perfect balance. Dying is a joke, there is no penalty besides not gaining reputation every night (the in-game equivalent of coins) that you can just obtain easily in the late game by just selling items. The story is also extremely abstract, and I feel like it might be a little bit too scattered to make a lot of sense of. There's a great guide on steam about the lore by OwlCowl if anyone is really interested, but if it wasn't for a few brave people gathering every single lore bit that they could, you could finish the entire game and have zero clues about anything, not even the faintest idea.

Overall, buy this game at your own discretion, but I would not recommend it for most people.

It's hard to judge a game that is clearly someone's artistic vision.

Gameplay wise, the game is pretty good - It's nothing out of the ordinary and plays pretty much as you'd expect an old-style survival-horror game. The story however is pretty unexpected, and hard to piece together at times.

It has all the elements of a good resident evil/silent hill clone, it has your inventory management, rooms where you save your game rather than saving anywhere, limited resources (although they're plenty, even in the harder difficulty) and puzzles to solve. The documents you can find in this game are great at providing info about your surroundings and the people living in each place, and you will need any small amount of information to understand what's going on.

As is normal with this kind of game, there's some backtracking which is to be expected, but it's very localized, and the game makes sure to give you as many hints as possible to prevent you from backtracking unecessarily.

Overall as a game, it's a pretty good callback to a lot of horror games of the past (and present), but the artistic merit has to be judged by yourself, and noone else.

Spoilers about the ending:
I'm not a fan of having to go outside the game to get the needed hints to solve the lilies ending. There are no clues in-game for it, and it was apparently only solved by some people analyzing the in-game radio and decrypting information that led to a website where small hints were given. I think a game should stand on its own, and locking an ending behind something that people have no way of knowing about unless they're active in online forums or watch youtube videos about the game feels a bit unfair.

It's pretty hard to find a game that gives you good reasons to play it from start to finish.

It's even harder to find a game to give you reasons to do it one more time after that.

This game is very different from past Armored Core games, and it stands out on its own as a great game, and possibly one of the best mecha games I've ever played.

It brings a lot of new things to the table gameplay-wise, but above all, the story makes it really shine. Even though you never see any of the characters of the story directly, their dialogues before the missions and during the missions make for a great experience. I did not find the game particularly hard, but I did have to switch my mecha to adjust for certain missions and bosses, as they can drain your resources fairly quick, or just straight up destroy you if you aren't fast enough or don't deal enough impact damage.

The game relies a lot on its stagger bar, something that basically stuns the enemies for a brief moment and increases the damage you deal to enemies while they are in this state. I don't know how I feel about this, because it makes it so that most of the times the most optimal way to play is to use weapons that can add up to the stagger as fast as possible, but on the other hand it leads to some pretty intereresting fights.

Definitely recommend this game to anyone that likes mechas, and even to those that don't. Give it a try, I doubt you'll be dissapointed.

I had never played the original trilogy, so I am pretty happy I gave the Legendary Edition.

If you can get pass the issues you might have with EA's launcher (in my case my steam account was linked to an old automated account created when I played an EA game many many years ago) and I had to talk to support to get this fixed. I write this here so if someone has a similar issue where the game won't start and you get the "something went wrong" error, it could be that.

The graphics are more or less the same throughout each game, the improvements when compared to original footage are huge, but obviously the further you are into the games the better looking they become, and the gameplay improves too.

The story is probably the strongest aspect of the game, and although I am aware a lot of people are unsatisfied with the ending of the third game, I actually enjoyed one of the endings. There are definitely a lot of plot holes near the end, but you can clearly see the team was strained when they did the game, and even if this is a remaster, I feel it better to preserve the original game with all its design issues intact, so that new players like me can really feel what it was like playing it at the time.

Overall I definitely recommend this game if you never played it before or if you don't have all the 3 games.

I cannot in good faith recommend this game.

This is a game I've picked up and tried to play many many times in many years since its launch, and I can't like it no matter what.

The controls are pretty bad even with a joystick, sometimes looking in a specific direction can be bothersome. The early levels are too repetitive and the weapon variety, although there are many different weapons, is laughable because they all play the same. Grinding for souls is tedious and takes too long, and the hitboxes are very flimsy. There are also times where I've died without knowing what killed me at all, because as you move forward you can randomly find a trap or some enemy that will just take all your health away in one abstract hit that you have no way of knowing about without getting hit first.

On the surface the game looks great, but for me that's all it is. The substance is not there. It also seems that some things changed since the original release with the character's reactions with NPC, and for some reason the game's MC became a goofy dork that makes autistic animations everytime they have to interact with an NPC or a situation.

I think it's almost impossible to make a roguelike metroidvania, but I have definitely seen it done better before. This game could easily be fixed with some patches, but taking into consideration it seems to be a success with its niche audience, I wouldn't hold my breath.

A pretty good RPG, full of customization and forces you to think smart to overcome your obstacles.

At the start it can get a bit overwhelming to find the right combination of party members, but I urge you to try your first party to the end. It takes a long while to see the full potential of your characters. Even some classes that might seem useless at first become really helpful in the end.

The history, although simple, is also really good and moving. I really hope we get to see more games like this in the future.

Definitely a must-have for metroidvania fans. Hard focus on platforming and exploration, the game mixes puzzle solving with platforming really well.

The game aesthetics are nostalgic (and will probably only be nostalgic for people of my generation) and can be uncanny at times. The OST is also really good and doesn't get old or repetitive.

I wish there were more reasons to replay it, the game is roughly 6~ hours long, but adding a small option to randomize stuff or maybe a harder mode would go a long way. I also think adding a map would help those who might have more issues with coordination, as there is a lot of backtracking and the levels are circular, so you'll be going through many crossroads unsure which way you came from.

Definitely worth the asking price (6€ at the time of writing) and I wish to see more from this developer in the future.

A fun addition to Demon Turf. Definitely recommend playing after the first game and the Tower in case you're still hungry for more challenges.

A really good and memorable platformer. A true "Hidden Gem". Not only do I recommend having fun playing the entire game, I recommend completing the Tower challenge too. It's too bad we don't get a steam achievement for getting to floor 50, but it's still a really fun run.

The game controls a lot like Super Mario 64, which is for me one of the best platformers ever. It feels like a real spiritual successor, with everything about the game improvement dramatically. I can see myself playing this game again before playing Super Mario 64 for the Nth time.

The negative reviews on Steam are honestly warranted. I think alot of people complaining about the disconnect penalties are exagerating and many are ragequitting, but the constant server issues, cursed lobbies, endless queues, having to constantly restart matchmaking, endless loading, latency lag where the game doesn't kick you out regardless of your internet connection quality so you're just a teleporting mecha of doom for other players, and now the fact that the clans were possibly disbanded without even a clarifying note? This game is fun, but I hope it flops just from mismanagement.
