Description
History and Mythology Become One!

The most definitive mod for Age of Mythology brought to life! The Expanded Mod vastly overhauls the game with new units, techs, maps, aesthetics, balance fixes and more in the first mod that blends cut content from AOM's development history with overflowing brand new content and more! The Expanded Mod also cultivates ideas from the mainline Age of Empires games to give AoM an even more classical feel.

Features of the Expanded Mod:

Consult with the mighty Oracle atop her mountainous shrine, and she may tell you the same ideas about what the mod has to offer...

  • Massive Scale Battles!
    With an increased 500 population count, and tweaked unit cost values, take grand armies to armies to war in full scale battles and warfare. With dozens of new units and weapons, pick your favourites and crush your enemies!

  • New Techs and Units!
    Each civilization has 20-30 new units, as well as almost a dozen new buildings, housing roughly just over 200 new technologies. Some techs offer great bonuses, while some offer 'tradeoffs' for specific players who want to take advantage of their units or civ. Take the game even further with tweaked and a few new god powers!

  • Conquest around the World!
    Take your battles far and wide with 49 new random maps, ranging from lowland hills, to the frigid Alps! Hone your skills in playable single player against AI, or get together to play online with friends!

  • A Scenario Designer's Toybox!
    Expanded Mod boasts the greatest sandbox for scenario editors to date, featuring hundreds of exclusive editor units, buildings, and embellishments; from cannons to Roman architecture. The editor also includes content left on the cutting room floor of the original AoM.

  • Overhauled Ambiance
    Watch the forests sway, or listen to the sounds of the desert, or maybe even the ocean, with dozens of new sounds, and natural effects that are present even in a skirmish match.

Future Updates and Mod Plans:

The primary bulk of the mod is completely finished, and playable without many big complications. The biggest point to work on is finishing the Chinese, but after that, EM is mostly looking to polish things up and generally finish tidying.
Do your part by leaving your feedback about the mod! If you are reporting a bug, please review the discussion at least slightly, as not to incur repeat reports about issues in the mod.

Translators are Wanted!

Spanish the most wanted translation desired for EM! Don't be afraid to reach out if interested!

Just to know, because the full mod for sure ain't getting into retold. Could you port the maps of the mod to retold? This mod really has the absolute best maps of the age of saga in general and it could be an absolute blast to play it in a modern engine that's not as janky

@Hallowed
I removed Cannons and Musketeers from standard play for not fitting the tone/setting/style of the game. ATM you can hire Atlantean Arquebusier mercenaries on the Azores map; but the next update will be replacing them with Pavisers.

@Smoggy
No.

can you do 1 cost population?

I figured that'd be the case, oh well.

On a sidenote: Which Atlantean God and/or Minor God has the Gunpowder units (Cannon & Musketeers)? Or do they all have those?

After I finish the upcoming Expanded Mod campaign (this will get a proper announcement when I feel it is almost ready - if anyone has been exploring the EM Editor, you'll get a rough idea of what I am making. Hint: it has nothing to do with the Trojan War, that plan was abandoned years ago), EM is going to be retired beyond the balance/bug fixing for a short period (once that is done then there will be a big final masterfile released on Moddb and AoMHeaven - so get your bug reports, nitpicks, and suggestions in ASAP), and I'm going to prioritise my GZDoom project.

Nope, any plan to port with Retold died when it was confirmed that Retold was based on AoE3DE's version of the engine; which is a can of worms I ain't gonna open. Combined with the fact that Resold also doesn't have the necessary tools for custom models (yet) and the 4K UHD nature of it's graphics mean that EM would require a team, and from my experience that alone makes EM unviable to port even in the long term. Also the fact that it's SysReqs require having a relatively newer computer, and I ain't upgrading for one game lmao.

@WilkPl

I was wondering the same thing, though I imagine it'd be a massive undertaking to do.

will you be porting the mod to retold?

You can also exchange resources for Favor in Temples; that's the primary method now. Sages are just a passive bonus.

NVM I figured it out, you have to train Sages from the Monastery to generate favor.
