Fun combat and interesting level design but this game is double the length it should have been. After about 6 hours the game introduces no new mechanics other than new enemies and the occasional new gun which makes the second half of this game really drag which kind of killed any chance of me replaying this thing

This shadow warrior reboot was definitely a pleasant surprise considering how hard reset (flying wild hog's previous game) was possibly the most mediocre shooter ever made.

The Good:
The sword is immensely satisfying to use with its multiple fire modes as well as the many upgrades it gets throughout the campaign. Divider of heavens is by far the best of the swords attack modes but wings of crane is also good. Circle of iron is nice in concept but in reality isn't all that useful. The ki powers are also very fun and useful. I personally didn't like water trap that much but the rest of the powers were all quite useful in some way. I also like how there's a tonne of enemy variety too which keeps the game feeling fresh for each combat encounter. The sheer amount of things to upgrade also prevents the game from ever feeling stale. And the game is surprisingly quite long, taking me almost 20 hours for my first playthrough and around 12 hours once I went back in on new game +.

The Bad:
There aren't many worthwhile complaints for me to list off but there were quite a few things that did bring the game down slightly for me at least. For starters most of the guns really aren't that useful. They don't do much damage at all outside of the rocket launcher and the flame throwers Alt fire. As a result the only times I ever used them were against the shaman and warlords as they're too dangerous to take on with the sword. The worst is the shotgun which is such a downgrade from the originals to the point that it hurts. Another complaint is that some enemies are just unfun to fight. Most notably are the beserkers. Big charging enemies that can only be damaged from behind. This kind of enemy has literally never been fun to fight, and whenever the game has you fight them it causes the pacing to screech to a halt. They're even more frustrating when paired up with the other enemies, like the ones that create explosive green balls and the teleporting enemies. Also the boss fights are absolutely terrible. They have far too many hitpoints which just makes the fight drag on for ages. some of them also have near unavoidable attacks that wipe off half your health. This doesn't make them hard though because you can infinitely heal and use protection to keep yourself alive, all it means is that they take even longer to kill. The final boss is definitely the worst in this regard.

On a subjective note this game also doesn't feel or play like the original shadow warrior at all. I can't think of a single enemy that makes a reappearance from the original and hardly barely any weapons feel like the ones you found in the original. I also think Lo Wang's voice actor sounds a bit weird and the one liners aren't nearly as funny as they were. But these are just nitpicks, overall i think that this is a really fun game with lots of replayability and so I do recommend it.

My experience with this game:

Install game
go to play game
have to install rockstar launcher and create account
spend about an hour making rockstar account
finally get into the game
initialising
10 minutes later its still initialising
get pissed and search up on youtube
the game is glitched and will say initialising indefinitely
find a "solution" to the bug on youtube
spend half an hour following all the steps to the "solution"
It doesn't work
Have to uninstall and refund game

Don't get this game

What can I say, I have over 30 hours on a game which has a campaign that takes a maximum of 6 hours to complete. After getting every achievement as well as finishing the campaign on Uber 3 times, this is a game that I think is an absolute masterpiece.

Graphically the old blood is still very good looking. The engine is a bit dodgy, and as a result you may get audio/graphical glitches and perhaps some stuttering but when I set it to medium settings it ran perfectly and still looked quite nice.

Story wise not much is going on in the old blood, for the most part it's a recreation of RTCW with returning characters Kessler and the main villain Helga Von Schabbs to name a few. In the games prologue you're kidnapped along side a guy called Wesley and for the first half of the game you're simply trying to escape castle wolfenstein and make contact with Kessler in the village. I won't spoil the rest though. Overall the game is very light on cutscenes which is really what makes it better than the new order IMO as it means that you are constantly moving forward without the constant stop and start feel of the prior game.

Gameplay wise is where the old blood excels. The standard assault rifles will be your primary weapon for most the game but you have a lot of other options too. The shotguns and sniper rifle are both incredibly satisfying and feel far more powerful than their new order counterparts. The main new weapon is the kampfpistole, a grenade launcher that does a whole lotta damage in a large explosion. Overall the weapons feel great and I much prefer this roster compared to the new order's weapons. Another thing that's been improved is the perk system. Perks are now way less of a pain to get. unlike in the new order, the perks come relatively naturally when you play the game and you don't feel as though you have to go out of your way to get these perks; I also think that the perks give better rewards as well. Lastly there's the enemies. for the most part you are just fighting the same Nazis over and over again but the game has drones, dogs, uber soldiers, as well as the commanders, which don't appear quite so often due to the games larger emphasis on scripted fights. There are a few boss fights throughout the game and another enemy type you encounter later on but I won't spoil them.

Overall The old blood is a fantastic game that I recommend to any fan of shooters, easily 10/10

This honestly might be the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game I've ever played, from wank graphics, the most frustrating gameplay I've ever witnessed combined with a boring, generic story, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ voice acting and a horrendous PC port.

For starters this average looking game from 2009 runs like what you would expect a PS2 game to run at. 30 fps was the max i got and it frequently dipped below that. there are barely any graphical options other than gamma and resolution. No way to disable motion blur or v-sync in the main menu which all combined gives me a headache. The sensitivity is so high even on the lowest option and to add icing to the cake (or i should probably say drizzled piss on a steaming ♥♥♥♥) the button prompts use the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Xbox 360 buttons which is just lazy.

The game itself doesn't even hold up. The controls feel off and the combat is either really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ boring or the equivalent of banging your head against a brick wall. The platforming, whilst being cool in concept, consists of you clumsily flopping from one object to another, often just being sent upwards as it's so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ precise. The grappling hook in combat is useless as the enemies use hitscan attacks so you're going to get hit whilst your swinging around and die instantly, and this is meant to be the whole ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mechanic of the game.

What made me quit though was when i spent about 45 minutes at this mother ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sniper section, which is so undeniably terrible that it deserves its own paragraph. You're walking down this narrow street with no cover and snipers attacking you from roof tops. It doesn't matter what direction you're moving in, nor how quick you're moving, they will always hit you (at least they did on hard) and like I said, no cover. You have to walk down this narrow path as radiation prevents you from going round the buildings. BUT, there is also water flooding the floor which causes your character to sink and drown within 5 seconds. After finally lucking my way through it, I got near the end where there was one sniper left. When I said no cover before it was an exaggeration, THIS TIME IT ISN'T. Zero objects are big enough to hide your body, and this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ is miles away. There is literally nothing to do in this moment. You can't go below the bridge because it's over the ocean and i couldn't swing under it either because it's too narrow and i just ended up falling. So you die. AND GET SENT BACK TO THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ START OF THE LEVEL. I tried again and failed again, so I said ♥♥♥♥ it and now I'm writing this review.

Don't waste your money or time on this hot steaming trash. I bought it on sale for like 90% off and I still feel scammed. If anything I should be getting payed to play it. Seriously don't bother, my joking manner is still 100% serious and I urge you to not buy this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ abomination, and stain on everything that has ever been called a video game before.

F.E.A.R is a very fun game, it has incredibly enjoyable combat which is emphasised by the absolutely amazing AI which far outshines anything you can find in games released after (with maybe the exception of far cry 2) as well as the awesome weapon roster. The stand outs are definitely the shotgun which just tears enemies apart, the laser which melts them, and the dual pistols which are useful for long range. Unfortunately 90% of the time you'll be using the assault riffle as it's pretty much the only thing dropped by enemies, but even this is still fun to use. To be honest though this game isn't scary in the slightest, I jumped once over the two times I've played this but that's about it.

Decent half life 2 mod. Nothing groundbreaking like new weapons or anything like that but it does offer up a fairly well put together campaign. Unfortunately it is quite easy and as well as that only last 2 hours. I'm also pretty sure you need counter strike source as quite a few of the textures where missing and I also had some up and down frame rates in the first couple of chapters. Not a perfect mod but worth checking out seeing as it's free.

Alien campaign:
Ngl this is by far the worst. Clunky controls and movement that will give you motion sickness, a lack of attack options plus you die incredibly quickly by almost everything. Gains points for being awesome as ♥♥♥♥ in concept though. Also the longest, took me like 3.5 to 4 hours.

Marine campaign:
Solid shooter, the standard most basic campaign but arguably the best. You have lots of cool weapons like the pulse rifle and smart gun which tear aliens apart and are great against the preds as well. The shortest campaign, 2 hours possibly less.

Predator campaign:
My favourite campaign, plays mostly like a standard FPS but is far more unique due to the predator's arsenal and other abilities. my only complaint about this one is that the aliens can ♥♥♥♥ you up if you aren't careful. The final boss is also underwhelming. Also fairly short, around 2.5 hours.

Overall:
Pretty standard story for an aliens game, but also what is expected of a shooter that came out in the 90s. Like a lot of 90s shooters it also suffers from kind of confusing level design and the limited number of saves per level sucks as well. Overall would recommend though.
