Amalgam does a shockingly good job at maintaining the core designs of HL2 and even improving on some aspects. It fits right at home and doesn't overstay it's welcome with a nice little self-contained story to give players another few hours in the suit of the legendary Freeman.

It also contains a spooky puzzle mansion which makes it good automatically because spooky puzzle mansion level.

I'm always appreciative of voice acting in fan-made content, but I'm pretty sure one of the custom voices is the mod author, and it's used for like 90% of the NPC chatter which causes some kinda silly moments. It's not a major issue and It doesn't ruin the overall experience, it's just something you'll notice a few times throughout the mod.

It it's a solid 7/10 experience for those seeking more Gordon.
