Brother this is the best combination of IT Administrator simulator and Detective Simulator in the gaming market today. You arrive at your ♥♥♥♥♥♥ office because your son downloaded incomprehensible amounts of strange hentai again and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ off. Everyone hates you and you're high most of the time. All you really want to do is figure out why the building has 900 offices and one ubiquity wireless access point in the lobby. Instead you've got to deal with a werewolf (a common occurrence in IT) and a bunch of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that think you care about their Carnival Cruise vacation to big ♥♥♥♥ key off the coast of ♥♥♥♥ you. You're constantly asked why email isn't syncing on their Iphone, and once in awhile someone tells you they need to install microsoft silverlight on their bidet. Absolutely fantastic job simulation training for the hellscape of new America. Soon we will all live in this world, high, bored, and walking up and down flights of stairs trying to remember where we left our last VGA cable with intact pins.

Controls are a bit of a mess if you're trying to use a gamepad. I feel this game could've been a lot better if more time had been spent on the map designs. As it stands we've got some small variation, but the same blue/grey palate as before. There's a new reloading mechanic that seems cool but ends up feeling out of place in a fast paced shooter. Beyond the reloading mechanic there appears to be an inordinate amount of attention paid( again ) to making the deaths as insanely gruesome and grotesque as possible. Enemies now bleed out, clutching ruptured abdominal cavities as organs protrude. What value does this actually provide to me as a player? None. I'm not paying attention to an enemy once they're no longer a threat, I don't need to hear them wheezing as their lungs fill with blood to know they're dead. I'm no prude, I love shadow warrior and BLOOD, but this just seems like a sexualization of gore in my opinion. All enemies are cutesy anime girls, why else would someone painstakingly draw and animate their bodies being destroyed if they didn't get a woody from it? If you enjoy fast paced shooters with a 2d aesthetic there are hundreds to choose from. This one just isn't worth the money.

REMEMBER THE HEROES FROM ALL THOSE FIGHTS?

Broteam's review of the first game convinced me to buy it several years ago. This serves as a fantastic sequel and improves on the base the older game set down. It's amazing to see so many of these environments rendered in such stunning detail. The plot was a strong and felt like a well contained story in the 40K universe. The melee combat is really where this game feels like the books- you really get a feel for the absolute insane brutality of combat when you're surrounded by enemies and get the ol' chainsword going.

After spending additional time playing this game I feel a bit let down. Not sure if it's the epic games component or simply a rushed development cycle but the game crashes frequently. I've played EDF 4.1, Insect Armageddon, Iron Rain, EDF 5, and any associated DLCs for each. I noted a common thread of instability present in games involving Yuke's (Iron Rain, later on Wold Brothers). I waited several years for this game to launch in America but the instability has stopped me from wanting to finish it.

One of the better games to come out in the past few years. Don't play with random people though, God help you if you play with random people.

I recommend this with a strong caveat. The combat in this game makes absolutely no sense and feels tacked on as an afterthought. This game would've been much better if it was a pure exploration and detective style game with combat being rare. If you read any of the books surrounding Dagon and the residents of Innsmouth there really isn't a lot of action or fighting. There are numerous adventure games out there with zero combat or limited combat.
