Runs are grindy and fast, upgrades are plenty, game is short enough and has good incentives for replayability.

The game is barely playable without modding.
Let's stop entertaining mediocrity.

Ship of Fools is an extremely LITE coop roguelite with the unique gimmick that all encounters occur aboard your ship. All fights require cooperation and teamwork, there are around 100 combined upgrades for your characters, ships and ammo types, but most of them are flat upgrades or elemental types, there's room for build experimentation but not as much as I'd like to justify repeated runs after completing the game. Also, the game has only 4 zones with one boss each, therefore each subsequent run becomes incresingly similar to the previous ones.

Pretty neat and clean coop experience, would totally recommend getting it on sale for a fun seafaring afternoon, but wouldn't buy if you are expecting infinite runs and/or replayability. Finished the game with most upgrades in 7 hours.

After an almost complete 80-hours playthrough of the base game and absolutely no desire to visit the dlc I could say that I've never found myself in such a pickle in deciding if I like a game or not. I mean, the game is a diverse mix of half-baked mechanics which (to be fair) support and/or supplement the core kingdom-building mechanic in mostly meaningful ways, also providing helpful boosts for combat (even though fights are laughably easy) in the form of recipes for stat-boosting food, plans for crafting new weapons/armor, improving your spells or even crafting little lovable pikminlike creatures called higgledies.
Everything in this game is grindy as hell, there are over 160 sidequests, most of them feel meaningful in a way that they relate some way or another to the citizens of your kingdom, and that must be the absolute best part, all characters are charmful and mostly lovable, even the least interesting ones have neat interactions with one another once they become your subjects.
On another note, the main story has this ghibli goofy cheerful vibe and has some sprinkles of more serious undertones here and there, particularly of racism and environmentalism, which I found surprisingly good, overall I could not say I will remember these characters or these plot twists a year or two from now even though I may have thoroughly enjoyed the journey from start to finish, therefore I can't say it was worth to complete it or that I would play it again, do not recommend unless mindless grinding and lighthearted and charming storytelling is what you are looking for.

in games like these characters shouldn't be locked behind paywalls, you are forced to use the potato-tier free killers and survivors until you grind enough currency or slide your credit card, this is ok for free games, but dead by daylight is not free.

Simplistic but fun dungeon crawling, combat is tight, it's fun to try different classes and see what works best, skills and itemization are fun. Music and graphics are a bit bland though.
