This is a tough one because I personally enjoyed the game but I wouldn't recommend the game to most people.

Guardians of the Galaxy is great at the overall plot, character arcs of the Guardians, and in pacing. Anyone who is a fan of the comic books or of the GoG characters would enjoy this game. I love the atmosphere of all of the areas with the various characters quips and a lot of jokes are very solid. The voice acting is fantastic and I enjoyed the main villains design and the emotional plot twists.

The issue is more with the game design. Various mechanics clearly had a controller in mind, with various quick-time events making sure you click the right button at the right time otherwise a cutscene fails. There are other classic video game tropes like invisible walls and collectables shining and things coloured in a certain way being the interactive parts of a wall. Combat is okay as although you are playing as Starlord you can control abilities of the other guardians and there are parts of the scenery that can be thrown/used during combat by various guardians. The enemies you fight however are pretty one dimensional and feels more like just spamming hordes.

The game is not a well optimised port of a console game. At times there were random lag spikes, and there was one point where the game would continually crash and I could not progress. I looked online and found this very common among Windows PC gamers, but despite trying many different fixes the only thing that allowed me to progress was when I uninstalled and reinstalled the game.

It is a very forgiving game of about 20 hours of content with not too much in the way of replayability. I think the best target audience for this game is teenagers on a console.
