The positive:

- Improved tools in relation to its predecessor, TpF 1.
- A very good assortment of mods, especially transport related.
- Fun both as a tycoon get rich game or as a transport/rail model builder.
- Amazing graphics.

The negative:

- A little of a learning curve, especially if you skip the campaign.
- Uncontrolled late game growth. Can be mitigated with mods, however.
- Fixed economics per distance, no matter if you are simulating Greater London or the whole of the United Kingdom, everything still gets the same amount of money per game distance, which is fine for buses and trains but leave planes kind of as a fish out of water.

The side note:

- Thanks to new game tools like improved terraforming, ability to plop towns, and a growing assortment of detail and function oriented mods, Transport Fever 2 can also be used to build very nice looking cities. It is not a city manager and if you are looking for detailed-oriented assets there is still a lot of catching up to do in relation to the gold standard that everyone knows, but it already has many advantages like improved performance, no game limits and much bigger maps.

Overall rating: very flexible and stable game with a decent and growing mod base that offers an endless amount of replayability no matter if you are just looking for a tycoon game or if you are into building that model railway that you could never afford in real life. 10/10.
