Blow up bugs, fry alien robots.

10/10

Edit: Will change my review back to positive when they change their stupid policy on PSN accounts.

BANGER.

Pros:

Graphics - Had to tweak some settings to get ideal FPS, but overall didn't take much time and the game can go from looking really good, to really great.

Sequences - The way the story is sequenced is great. The intro is one of the better intros to any game I've ever played.

Combat - There are enough ways to fight enemies through different spell combos that it doesn't really get boring laying into enemies a hundred or two times.

Cons:

Graphics Optimization - Poorly optimized on a lot of systems, it can be difficult to get good FPS with certain settings on. Personally I have a really high end rig, so it wasn't that big a bother to me, but I still had to tweak settings to optimize. The lower end the system, the more a con this is.

Side Activities - Certain minigames or side activities are REALLY fun. However, they're very limited in their use. Things like Broom Racing, Crossed Wands, and Summoner's Court only happen a few times and you're done. I thought these were ALL really fun minigames, and would enjoy MORE here. Like... one or two of each in each town and I'd be running all over the place!

More on this, conversely, Merlin Trials are... quite dull. There are over 95 of them, so it really just feels like a chore to 'go here, do this' because the 'puzzles' are just... well. It's usually just target practice, or to find the thing nearby and bring it back, etc. For something called 'The Merlin Trials', I would expect something much more fun, involved, or challenging.

Gear - The perks on the gear are really fun and varied, but only two or three are actually decent, and once you get a set of decent ~Level 26 gear, you can kind of just obliterate level 30-35 mobs. Also, by the time you get the Loom in the Room of Requirement, upgrade that one set to the decent gear I just mentioned, there is no further need for it. Late-game enemies need to be more difficult on Normal and Hard, and we need the RoR and or the Loom sooner.

RNG hurts a bit when it comes to the clothing shop in Hogsmeade. Ideally one full set of oranges, blues, and greens.

Economy - It's really hard to make money until you start capturing beasts, and once you do, it feels like money comes out of your ears with nowhere to spend it. Needs balancing somehow -- either earlier Beast capturing with no selling, or give us more things to buy (yes please!)

Mixed:

Dialogue - Dialogue in this game is generally not only fully-voiced, but also fully-animated. Overall very well done. Clearly a lot of time and effort was put in, because it shows. However, as a system it feels like there may have been some kind of moral system in the game, as well as potential romantic dialogues, but were likely cut from the game due to scope changes in the game's development. Would like to see if someone can find it in the game's code and maybe bring it back as a mod.

Mods - I have seen some EXCELLENT mods already, but most of them seem to alter existing objects, or change certain numbers in the game files to allow different numbers of things to exist, change damage numbers, cooldowns, etc. There are also many reshades and things for different ambiances.

OVERALL

Game is a banger, and IMO worth $60. I've put in 36 hours, and I could easily see myself playing another 20, without trying for 100%. The game definitely has its cons -- don't get me wrong -- but I sincerely hope that we get new DLC / Expansions in the future that enhance this already really good game. Certain minigames we DEFINITELY need more of, ideally in the form of content patches or mods.

Played for ten hours straight today. To address GFX concerns:
I have a 1080 Ti, 16gb ram, decent processor.
I get around 100 fps on max settings, at 2k resolution.

There are stutters, but they are short (~2s) and generally not in boss areas.

I purposefully didn't look at the game beforehand so I wasn't overly excited or spoiled for the game, but if you like Souls games and have my rig or better, you'll for sure like Elden Ring.

Cool game. Worst launch I've ever seen. 10% of the players who bought the game got to play it in the first week of launch. Then it was followed up with a 24-hour rollback of the entire server. GG devs.

I've played the game around ten hours now, and I've only played the Skirmish mode.

Solo runs of Skirmish are pretty boring, I recommend playing with others.

To my knowledge, you can play with bots in campaign, or with other people. I again recommend you play with other people, although solo campaign is likely better than solo skirmish.

That said, build diversity is where this game shines right now. There's a good number of weapons, classes, abilities, etc. Trying to min-max a build centered around the style of play you like is a fun endeavor, and I really love to see that in games. However, the game does seem to lack in mission variety, as it feels like there's only a few different missions.

I recommend the game for sure if you have $26.99 (current price) to spare, as I've gotten $3/hour so far or so for my money and I don't intend to stop playing very soon. I'll probably wind up with 30 hours before getting bored and waiting on updates; that's a bright side I see, this game has a LOT of room to grow and feels MUCH better than Alien Swarm did when it was newer.

This is my first time playing Mass Effect, despite it being recommended to me before.
One of my favorite childhood games was KotOR, and objectively Mass Effect feels like a much better game to me. If only Mass Effect was in a starwars universe, it might be cooler, but the story is really good so far without relying on a pre-existing IP. Great game!!!

So, I've played the game for a couple hours and here are my first impressions.

First, the game looks great.
Unfortunately, even with how good Cyberpunk looks, it takes a strong PC to run the game.
I have a good system, and it is bottlenecked by a 1080-Ti, by all rights it runs near the same as a normal 2080.
I wanted to upgrade, but GPU shortages have been worldwide.
Most people do not have a 1080-Ti or better, and I was only able to get the game playable on Medium settings.
Do note that I can play basically any other game on High-Ultra, and it took some optimizing in the settings to get a decent framerate -- even at Medium.

User Interface
Needs some attention. Managing the player's storage system takes far too long. I shouldn't have to click an item and then drag a slider to indicate how many of an item I want to move. There should be shortcuts included and honestly, between this and having to hold [TAB] to interact with the hacking mechanic, it really seems like CD Projekt Red hasn't put a lot of thought into how the game plays on Mouse + Keyboard.

Combat
The combat is fluid and feels good, with the exception of melee heavy attacks. There's no real indication on how long the player has to hold the key in order to get off a heavy attack instead of a light one. Already I can see that there's an abundance of different weapons and ways to fight in the game, and that's a big plus.

TL;DR
I've played the game a couple of hours, and the game looks good. Unfortunately the game has some accessibility problems and I hope that either CDR fixes some of the issues I brought up here or it gets fixed through mods. Thanks for reading, and I'll be sure to update back here as I play the game more. Hope my thoughts were helpful.

Easily one of the best games I've ever played.
Very fun plot lines to explore, and your choices actually impact the denizens of the world.
Great modding community, makes the game's replayability skyrocket.
Gameplay is varied and you can succeed with any kind of mix-matched class you can think of so long as you're creative with tactics.
