Overview
Missing Translation is a pixel visual indie game focused on solving puzzles in order to get back some boxes in order to complete some sort of machinery. There is no story, no background, just gameplay. It's a fairly short game, but it's free!

The Pros:
  • Nice art style - The pixel sprites are cute, the minimalist black and white theme suits them. This is obviously not the main point, since the game is focused on the puzzles you need to solve.

  • Puzzle Diversity - The game features three puzzles, with twenty-five level each, with a total of 76 puzzles to complete and a small town area to explore. All the puzzles are completed using the arrow keys and the buttons Q and E. The puzzles aren't that hard, and there is a good chance the game will bore you with having to complete 25 of them in sequence but at least there are different types of puzzles to keep you busy. If you are curios what these are, the rules are as follows: First puzzle - travel in a grid of squares by only moving once on each tile. Second puzzle - Control two or three boxes simultaneously and have them land in the ending slots at the same time by off centering them. Third puzzle - Up to 16 pieces with four sides, each colored either black or white. Rotate them so that each piece side has the same color as the one it touches.

  • Straight to the Point - This game doesn't bother telling you what's going on, you learn as you go. There are no story elements, no sound except the background music, no dialogue, nothing. In the end, it kind of makes sense, since it's all a dream.

  • Easy Achievements - Achievement hunters, rejoice! A free game with six easy achievements, to add to the collection!

The Cons:
  • A Bit Repetitive - The puzzles concept is good, but it can only get so diverse. You will notice a bit of boredom at the end levels of each stage.

  • No Replayability - I don't see myself playing this game again in order to go through the easy puzzles again. This is, for most people, a one time game, and it can be completed in one sitting in about 50 minutes (that's how long it took me, at least).

Conclusion
This is a cute game. Has decent puzzles, although a bit repetitive, doesn't try to think up a good story to cover for that, is straight to the point, it's free, it's fun to spend an hour on. What more is there to it?
