Amazing Game, Absolutely loved it. Can't wait for DLC, Really hope it gets a sequel. Metroidvania at it's finest.

Excellent metroidvania gameplay. Amusing (& attractive) characters. Fun narrative. Fair amount of hidden collectibles. Decent world variation to shake up scenery. & some pretty dang awesome boss fights.

This game was my intro to the Shantae series & I loved it. $20 seems a tad pricey for the package. Between $10 & $15 feel more like the sweet spot for this title, but, honestly the game is badass & is worth playing. Make sure you either purchase now or wishlist it (You don't want to miss out!) For what it is, the game is basically perfect.

Word of warning: When I first booted up the game it played at a ridiculously quick framerate. There are some posts available on how to solve it. Mine fixed itself by just rebooting the game. Never had the problem again.

I played through all of Ys with the exception of 5 (for obvious reasons). This one is easily my favorite in the franchise. Fantastic game. The fighting system (which takes a little bit of getting use to, if you are accustomed to the other games in the series control scheme) is great, the story is one of the best, the characters both in the party & in the world have well rounded personalities & very nearly all serve a purpose. Village building, crafting, a world exploration really broaden the scope of what the Ys series has been. I have zero complaints & am beyond eager for Ys IX.
Get the game. Personally, I got the deluxe edition and you get the opportunity to choose which DLCs you move into your game. I wound up only using 1 bait box & Laxia's alternate costume. The rest I chose to not use, as I didn't want to alter the intended experience too greatly.

The game is decent. I am currently playing the Steam Ys games in numerical order, but going by the quality of the game, I perhaps would have been better served playing I, II, VI, III, Origin, and then IV; just so the quality of work could be on a steady rise of gameplay fine tuning. As it is, I did enjoy the game. There is a mechanic that, if you're under leveled, you'll deal out zero damage to enemies: This sucks. Beyond that complaint, the story telling is up to par, the fighting & boss battles are a lot of fun, The music is fine (but does not stand out to the expectations many will have compared to other entries in the series). Dash jump is stupidly difficult to carry out (face direction of jump. Tap in direction of jump followed quickly by holding attack and tapping jump. Do not tap attack, then tap jump. Hold attack, and while attack is being held tap jump. But all swiftly.)

One additional complaint that I'll throw out there is that the game makes a fair amount of references to game V in the series. From events, characters, countries, to what was apparently a cliff hanger ending of the last game. I hope Nihon Falcom winds up taking the time to remake V & release it stateside. I understand that most reviews for it are quite harsh; but I trust Nihon to make lemonade out of that lemon.

As always, the Ys franchise is a blast & I'm having a lot of fun racing through the series. Next up is VII & I'm excited. Unlike Zelda's Link, All of Adol's history chases him from game to game (which is why, ultimately, I'm glad that I'm playing the games in numerical order).

Beautiful game with more gameplay options than you can shake a stick at. A bit grindy (I chose not to level up all of my skills), but the overall experience was great & I appreciated the story, characters, and the world offered. Ys II also offered nice towns, but this world was far more rich. Good game.

Beautiful game, fantastic music, fun combat, challenging bosses, and an overall experience that you won't mind replaying 3 times over.

Excellent game with an incredible soundtrack. Very fun gameplay that never delves too deep into platforming, but still offers an element of it. Engaging characters and story.

Lots of fun. Very simple battle system that is a bit dated & makes for a fairly unique experience. Great story. Highly recommended, the Ys series is excellent & this is where it all began.

A neat twist on the bridge building genre. Fun & with plenty of content to keep you occupied; certainly worth the cost.

A very clever, and fairly fun little game. Feels like you're solving riddles to get to the next cutscene. The story as a whole is actually really cool & it pays off to complete the narrative. $20 is a damn decent price to pay for this experience. If it were on sale, I reckon most puzzle lovers would be dang fools to even consider passing it up.
