Preview Mode Broken In Survival Mode
I can confirm that in preview mode, the projection will disappear after a random amount of time. It happens on both small and large grids.

UPDATE: Sometimes it will only last 30 seconds and other times it may last 5-10 minutes. I have tested with all preview settings on/off and has no effect. Something triggers it but since it is random, im not sure what.

UPDATE 2: The issue is connected to all projectors regardless of how many you have. Multiple ships, etc. Also, if you activate "Load this ship" "in its current state" it will fix the one projector but all other projectors will disappear.

UPDATE 3: Finally I think I found the issue. I can not replicate the issues on new saves. The issues only happen on "possibly certain" existing survival saves. I hope this can be fixed.





I was able to replicate this issue though on an existing survival save.

1. activate "Load this ship" "in its current state"
2. Turn the projector block off and then back on.
3. This will show for turrets. https://ibb.co/gRm5wzm

Repeating step 1 again fixes the issue.

It doesn't happen to me, I left it idle for about an hour and the projection was still there =)

Can you send the world where you get this issue, and point me at the projector causing it :} (either GPS or give it a unique name in terminal)

Thank you for getting back. I will help as best I can. I have a copy of the save below. There are mods installed but I did my due diligence and could not replicate the issue on a new save with mods regardless. When you enter the save, you will be on the main ship. The projector is called "Projector 2". Just needs to be activated. It will project right behind the flight seat.

You can also experiment by making more projectors and even adding some to the small ship above the ship outside as they will all have the issue.

Just in case it does not happen for you, since we do not know what it is, if you wait some time, try grinding, interacting, etc.

Glad to hear it! It seems something is triggering it and interfering. I thought it was script related but disabling scripts did nothing. I disabled all mods besides this one on that save and did nothing. I can only assume 1 of 2 things. 1, The save is still running a part of a mod that is conflicting or 2, regardless of mods, this mod conflicts on existing saves. I wish I could be of more help. I'm rooting for you.


For the other issue you said you were able to reproduce with the turret barrels showing outside of the ship, it seems to affect all gun barrels. They do not project on entering a save for the first time or "in its current state". Only turning the projector off and then back on.

They show up barrel-less in vanilla projector too, they made some changes to that subpart handling xD

Anyway, the projection vanishing was a weird combination of me spawning it wrong in a thread and meteorites spawning causing my projection to be deleted because it supposedly collided entityIds... I dunno, but my changes seem to've fixed it at least =)

Mod's updated with the fixes, thanks again for the reports :}

Very interesting. I would not have guessed that. Amazing job! Confirmed fixed. Almost perfect. One issue, the turrets/cannons and doors now are static. They stay when the ship moved.

This is one of those times where you fix one thing and break another =) the barrel floating fix is what caused this one, it'll take more fiddling to find out how to fix both xD

Took a break and came back to see that this issue still exists. Were you able to figure out what triggers this? I seems to be after a short time. Triggers after the projection has been active for a minute of 2. These projection parts become static after moving.

Also, the floating barrel issue still somewhat exists (partially built) but from what I can tell, doesnt happen if meteorites are turned off. Related to what we talked about previously.

WORK AROUND: For now, I am using a timer block to make the "...As built & Fixed" and "In its current state" script option occur automatically this is a bandaid fix. This is every set amount of configurable seconds. Since this issue appears after some minutes, resettiing the projection every 60 seconds prevents or at least fixes this issue if it occurs. Not ideal, but at least its automated.

The only other issue I saw is that certain colors will make the blocks remove the 'haze' effect on the projection. They will look different than the other blocks. For example color #B27700. I think it has to do with choosing a custom color.

That is probably outside of my control, unless it doesn't happen for vanilla projection?

One issue I found which is kinda bad involves swapping between build and preview mode with projection perfectly matching the existing one in terms of position (which is easier now with the alignment feature automatically triggering on Use-this-ship), causes the build projection to be lost after a few cycles :( And the same thing works fine in SP, so I dunno when I'll get to finding that or even redesigning the code as it's quite the old and messy there =)
