Did you take a look inside your debug.log to look for the related debug messages from my previous post? Did you resubscribe, so that you have a clean download? If you start a new game, it should definitely work. Do you have other mods enabled which are somehow related to religion?
For now, I have to go to sleep.

Instead of SUCCESS it should say FAILURE then, but if you look inside your debug.log file which is located in \Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings III\logs and which can be opened with the standard text editor, do you even see for example "Farewell, Chaplain!: Doctrine" when you search the file using CTRL+F?
Plus, I added the Chinese translation provided by Aurora, fixed a localization error when a generated realm priest was of a dead culture and force the event music to play, since it wasn't most of the time, because of the travel arrival events firing.
I hope that everything works properly now, thanks for the bug reports and maybe leave a message when it works or when things don't work.
This version does not add the chosen realm priest as a companion to your travel entourage yet.
@laxfeed I'm still testing, but it looks like I have the working solution now, so that also Landed Characters (e.g. Prince-Bishops) will get thrown off the Council without affecting the Domains.
But, without affecting the Domains, there often will be the situation that your new Realm Priest will be of a lower rank than your previous one (e.g. Bishop vs. Prince-Bishop), since your new Realm Priest may only hold a Barony-title, while the other still owns the Prince-Bishopric. What's your opinion on that?
I know barely anything about how this would have played out back then when a Lord approached his Head of Faith to ask for replacement.
In my opinion this has never happened before, which means it is probably possible to find a solution that will resume the correct operation of the mod without workarounds.
I think, I have a working solution already, which is to check for the Realm Priest's highest held title and if it's higher than Barony, I'll transfer all his titles to the New Realm Priest.
The only other "solution" I could come up with, would be to not allow the Decision at all, if you have a Prince-Bishop (or higher) as your Realm Priest, so the title transfer should be the way to go?
For the purpose of testing, you could try if it works in an earlier save game of your current run (indicating the behaviour is specific to your current in-game situation) and you could also check if the mod works in general for you by starting a new game with only this mod enabled (depending what other mods you play with, there may even be a conflict preventing this mod from functioning).
Do you play as a non-Catholic ruler?
If you are able to provide a download link for your current save game, that could be helpful as well.
My assumption is that there would be more people reporting if there was a general problem.
If someone reads this and would be up for that kind of task (creative writing or translation from German to English) it would be quite a blessing.
Could you give a little bit more detail on the circumstances? You are able to take the Decision and the Event gets triggered for you, but when you click one option there's no effect at all?
First thing that comes to mind is that you should try to resubscribe to the mod, so that the whole mod folder gets a fresh download.
I am a horrible creative writer, so any other ideas in mind will be quite difficult for me to achieve, but I will give it a try :D
It would also be interesting to allow for failure, and perhaps when the head of faith refuses, we can re-persuade him...relying on character skills or bribery?
Do you think that your unwanted priest should also travel with you to your head of faith?
I haven't really played with the new update, so I don't know if there's a chance of people in your entourage dying during travel time.
I also think about making a new Game Rule to allow for failure, so that it may be possible for your head of faith to decline your request.
I will have a closer look at your mod and include the relevant Chinese localization keys and of course put your names and a link in the description.
