Decision doesnt work, please update. Much needed QOL mod with a sense of balance that doesnt feel like cheating.

This is more valuable when you are already knocking off bordering rulers children so you don't have to stop ALL schemes to hold a vote of no confidence with your chaplain and your knife.

I'm having an issue where i install the mod but it doesn't appear in the launcher, and even if i click unsubscribe and resubscribe nothing happened. I tried verify cache on the game while having it subscribed but that didn't work. Does anyone know how to fix this please?

@laxfeed Hi, there has been a minor change for farewell_chaplain_event_option1 where I replaced GetName with the new command GetBaronyNameExplicitly.

@Feive I noticed that the "farewell_chaplain_event_l_english.yml" folder was affected in the update, did you change something in the localization? I didn't find any obvious changes, were there any?

I resubscribe and it seems to be working now both for the HRE and other Ruler. I've tested it out a few times both with just this mod and with the other mod i am currently using. I'll let you know if i have any other problems with the mod. Thanks.

That's really strange, I just started a new 1066 game and successfully replaced two Suffragan Bishops, the HRE Emperor's Prince-Bishop, the King of Denmark's Prince-Bishop and the Duke of Angria's Prince-Bishop, then went a second time to replace the HRE Emperor's new Patriarch and the Duke of Angria's new Prince-Bishop with no problems.

Did you take a look inside your debug.log to look for the related debug messages from my previous post? Did you resubscribe, so that you have a clean download? If you start a new game, it should definitely work. Do you have other mods enabled which are somehow related to religion?

For now, I have to go to sleep.

Instead of SUCCESS it should say FAILURE then, but if you look inside your debug.log file which is located in \Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings III\logs and which can be opened with the standard text editor, do you even see for example "Farewell, Chaplain!: Doctrine" when you search the file using CTRL+F?

Updated to mod version 2.1, which mainly addresses the failing replacement issues. I tested a lot and I think it should work now and I built in a fallback solution which hopefully does what it's supposed to do, although it never needed to fire when I did the testing today.

Plus, I added the Chinese translation provided by Aurora, fixed a localization error when a generated realm priest was of a dead culture and force the event music to play, since it wasn't most of the time, because of the travel arrival events firing.

I hope that everything works properly now, thanks for the bug reports and maybe leave a message when it works or when things don't work.

This version does not add the chosen realm priest as a companion to your travel entourage yet.

For some reason though, I am not able to get constant results. I can get 10 out of 10 working replacements in a row (testing only with the landed Prince-Bishops like HRE Emperor, King of Denmark, King of Sweden, Duke of Angria, etc.) and then suddenly those won't work anymore and they are "locked" in their council position again, despite no obvious changes. Maybe they are on some kind of cooldown or they have guaranteed council rights in their Feudal Contract? Well, I will try more after work. Maybe I add the title revocations after a secondary check as a "safety net" for whenever the first way is not able to achieve it.

@laxfeed I'm still testing, but it looks like I have the working solution now, so that also Landed Characters (e.g. Prince-Bishops) will get thrown off the Council without affecting the Domains.

But, without affecting the Domains, there often will be the situation that your new Realm Priest will be of a lower rank than your previous one (e.g. Bishop vs. Prince-Bishop), since your new Realm Priest may only hold a Barony-title, while the other still owns the Prince-Bishopric. What's your opinion on that?

I know barely anything about how this would have played out back then when a Lord approached his Head of Faith to ask for replacement.

@Feivel Is there no way to fix it without affecting the domains? It's certainly better than just disallowing the decision, but it's not ideal.

In my opinion this has never happened before, which means it is probably possible to find a solution that will resume the correct operation of the mod without workarounds.

@laxfeed Thank you very much. So if I understand correctly, whenever your Realm Priest happens to be a Prince-Bishop or higher (so basically a Count or higher), the replacement does not work, right? I've tested it with the HRE Emperor and see the problem.

I think, I have a working solution already, which is to check for the Realm Priest's highest held title and if it's higher than Barony, I'll transfer all his titles to the New Realm Priest.

The only other "solution" I could come up with, would be to not allow the Decision at all, if you have a Prince-Bishop (or higher) as your Realm Priest, so the title transfer should be the way to go?

I have version 1.9.1 and I have the same problem as @Varangian, and I think I figured it out. If you have a sovereign priest has possessions (we are talking about domains, not dioceses), then you can not replace it, but if he does not have them - it works.

In the current mod version, the replacement should still happen instantly after you clicked one of the options during the Event (which works for me).

For the purpose of testing, you could try if it works in an earlier save game of your current run (indicating the behaviour is specific to your current in-game situation) and you could also check if the mod works in general for you by starting a new game with only this mod enabled (depending what other mods you play with, there may even be a conflict preventing this mod from functioning).

Do you play as a non-Catholic ruler?

If you are able to provide a download link for your current save game, that could be helpful as well.

My assumption is that there would be more people reporting if there was a general problem.

yes all events work but i still have the same chaplain after i get back to my capital. I resubscribe to the mod unfortunately it did not fix it.

On a different note: For the future update, I already found some time to include that the candidate of choice will become a companion first, before he will replace the unwanted realm priest, but since now there are like half a dozen different possible outcomes (one or more relevant characters could die during the time of travel (player, unwanted clergy, replacement)) I need to write as many different small event texts in my native language (German) first and then have someone translate them at least to English.

If someone reads this and would be up for that kind of task (creative writing or translation from German to English) it would be quite a blessing.

@Varangian Hi, I did a quick test on a new game with only this mod enabled and tried both replacement options given during the audience event and both times the current realm priest was instantly replaced by the character I chose. It also worked as expected when I killed off the unwanted clergy soon before the audience (his automatically appointed successor was then also replaced by my candidate of choice).

Could you give a little bit more detail on the circumstances? You are able to take the Decision and the Event gets triggered for you, but when you click one option there's no effect at all?

First thing that comes to mind is that you should try to resubscribe to the mod, so that the whole mod folder gets a fresh download.

@Aurora If I find the time I will probably make a first small update in the next few days which will include your localization as well as adding the chosen candidate to the player's entourage. Since you mentioned that it's possible for entourage to die during travel, I won't add the unwanted priest as a companion, but I also won't interfere with the chance of death for the new candidate. I think it makes it a little bit more interesting anyway then.

I am a horrible creative writer, so any other ideas in mind will be quite difficult for me to achieve, but I will give it a try :D

Wow, that's fantastic:beshaha:If the unwanted priest will eventually go to my head of faith, I think it makes more sense for him to go with me to my head of faith. But the entourage is traveling with the possibility of death(TヘTo)which may burden your work.

It would also be interesting to allow for failure, and perhaps when the head of faith refuses, we can re-persuade him...relying on character skills or bribery?

@Auroro Actually I already put it on my to-do-list to add the chosen priest to the player's entourage when travelling home, so that's definitely a thing I will try to implement :-)

Do you think that your unwanted priest should also travel with you to your head of faith?

I haven't really played with the new update, so I don't know if there's a chance of people in your entourage dying during travel time.

I also think about making a new Game Rule to allow for failure, so that it may be possible for your head of faith to decline your request.

I will have a closer look at your mod and include the relevant Chinese localization keys and of course put your names and a link in the description.
