Description
Aerodynamic Control Surfaces

Fly planes through the atmosphere with no gyroscopes.

Strongly recommend use of the Aerodynamic Physics mod in conjunction with this one:

Mod introduces Aerodynamic Control Surfaces to the game. Physics simulation is a rough realistic approximation of flight physics when combined with the Aerodynamic Physics mod. Control surfaces can stall and offer little control over the ship at certain angles. If there is no forward velocity, the control surfaces will not provide any control. The control surfaces allow ships to rotate by deflecting air, this also creates a drag force that will slow the craft down.

The different parts are all interchangable, they are assigned to yaw pitch and roll based on the orientation of the control surface to the cockpit.

Adds 14 blocks to the game:
Control Surface 5x2 Flat - 5x2x1 block
Control Surface 2x2 Flat - 2x2x1 block
Control Surface 2x1 Flat - 1x2x1 block
Control Surface 3x3 Flat - 3x3x1 block
Control Surface 3x3 Angled Flat - 3x3x1 block
Control Surface 3x3 Angled Flat Inverted - 3x3x1 block
Control Surface 5x3 Angled Flat - 5x3x1 block
Control Surface 5x3 Angled Flat Inverted - 5x3x1 block

Control Surface 5x2 Centered- 5x2x1 block
Control Surface 2x2 Centered- 2x2x1 block
Control Surface 2x1 Centered- 1x2x1 block
Control Surface 3x3 Centered- 3x3x1 block
Control Surface 3x3 Angled Centered - 3x3x1 block
Control Surface 5x3 Angled Centered - 5x3x1 block

Control through basic input (mouse and/or keyboard), compatible with joysticks.

Building tips:
Put control surfaces behind the center of mass of the craft - or they will provide little control.

Features:
If a control surface is damaged to the point it is no longer working, the angle of the control surface is locked in place.
Manually set the trim of blocks.
Manually disable yaw, pitch, or roll control for control surfaces.

never mind, you just have to add the component mod to the modlist now, never had to do that before but i'm glad it works.

hey Draygo i think the component mod is broken again for the new update :(

Also Blast doors seem to have trim the same thing? Both seem accessible from action relays.

Thanks for the quick fix.
On another note. Is anyone else getting the settings for a control surface block in the Action relay but all grayed out?

Yup it's fixed! Thanks so much

Error isnt in this mod but the component mod, which I just fixed.

Is this mod going to be fixed for the new version?
flashfireball 14 Oct, 2024 @ 11:49am
yeah the new update broke them even the control panel does not show any settings like you would expect

I'm not sure if this happens with every update, but the new contact update is causing the control surfaces to not spawn in when the block is placed, or when a blueprint is spawned.

Is there a way to increase the turning force of these? I've been flying aircraft with aerodynamic physics mods with the drag increased 11x, and yet it barely even tilts the aircraft below 150m/s, so idk what to do to get better turning performance?
