Breencast Reverb

Description
Important Update Check Description. Adds reverb effects to the jumbotron monitor sequences in both HL2 and EP1 inspired by (but not a replication of) the OG Xbox version of HL2. This mod includes less dramatic reverb and much less muffled audio aiming to compliment the original audio while providing reverb effects.

Warning:
This mod requires additional installation steps as seen below.
Currently, certain workshop files aren't allowed to override base HL2 files. You have to manually transfer the workshop files into your "hl2/custom/" directory.
  1. Go to the Steam library where you installed the game.
  2. Navigate to
    \steamapps\workshop\content\220\3366771296
  3. Rename the files from "workshop_000.vpk" and "workshop_dir.vpk" and replace "workshop" with whatever such as "BreenReverb_000.vpk", "BreenReverb_dir.vpk"
  4. Move those files to where your game is installed in the folder
    \steamapps\common\Half-Life 2\hl2\custom
(create the folder if it isn't there already)

This mod also implements a fix/addition to the first background map so that citizens spawn and scanners don't flashbang you. The last map "d3_breen_01" is affected by the reverb too with Breen's monologue to Eli but there should have been a reverb effect here anyway and it sounds good so I kept it.

To test the effect for your own comparison, type in console "dsp_speaker 50" to revert to original audio and "dsp_speaker 51" to use mod's audio.

Nope. Only one speaker reverb effect should be on at a time but I guess the Breencast monitors don't properly shut off during that scene. I could try fix it with more edits to the map but I'm not going to maintain that for all the patches made too. You can fix it yourself if you really care just by entering "dsp_speaker 50" into console during that scene
Is Kliener's call with Barney meant to have reverb too?

Yeah Lost Coast also breaks if you have Gman intro replacer (and probably any other intro replacers) + anything that changes game_sounds_manifest which will mute the dialogue lmao

Would be good if it didn't require extra steps to work.

You're right. Lost Coast crashes because Valve, instead of easily unifying the engine branches, decided to make this impressively engineered clusterfuck of a system and the Lost Coast background map shares it's name with the default HL2 background map causing the error.

I'll make a fix soon.

Fixed up the confusion and errors with intro test replacement. I managed to get it running, if you have errors use the GameBanana versions exclusively. Hope it helps.

Crashes when launching Lost Coast?

I had done that and left a comment on the gamebanana page for this addon about how even with just the GB versions i could not get it to work.

The patch was made for the GameBanana version since that one was newer. I recommend both getting the mod and patch from GameBanana.
