Description
A corrupted hero brought back to the dead and fueled by an unearthly rage!
In centuries past, when war was a common sight and countless monsters roamed the land, there were very few who were willing to challenge the beasts and tyrants than Ingrim and his band of adventurers. Reckless yet endlessly jovial in his way, Ingrim wandered the land seeking out trouble to be stopped wherever he could find it. Alongside a wind wielding monk who was wise beyond his years and a fierce warrior of unparalleled strength, he fought valiantly against many foes, including a massive drake in a battle long forgotten. That all changed, however, when he came into contact with a cursed sword imbued with the encroaching power of darkness in his travels. Slowly but surely, he was corrupted into a despot who laid waste to the land and lead to the deaths of countless innocents. In an intense battle between him and old his compatriots, Ingrim was eventually slain by the monk, though the warrior perished in the conflict. In the aftermath, the monk laid both heroes rest in a sacred ground, where Ingrim’s soul could hopefully meet its rest separated from the corruption of the blade.

Centuries later, as the abyss began to well from the endless depths and corrupt the realm of Aether, they laid siege the sacred burial ground where countless souls had been laid to rest since the passing of those two heroes. In response to the encroaching monsters, the warden of the grounds, Déraciné, let out a harrowing cry which uprooted the dead to destroy the abyssal creatures… all but one. Ingrim, possibly due to his long rest within the sacred ground or by the lingering influence of the cursed sword, refused to heed Déraciné’s cry… until something else woke him up. With a burning fury that welled from the depths of his soul, Ingrim burst from the earth he was buried in with a haunting scream, and with unnatural speed dashed into the chaos of the conflict that surrounded him, tearing apart everything that stood in his way. All who disturbed his slumber shall face his unending wrath, whether it’s the warden of the sacred grounds, the endless wave of creatures formed from the abyss, or his old comrade who took his life…

...Uysal...

Ingrim is an explosive glass cannon rushdown character who specializes in devastating offense and terrifyingly slipper grounded movement punctuated by a meter system that encourages him to pick and choose his openings carefully.

Elemental Powers
  • Wrath – Ingrim has a meter on his hud that enhances the properties of his moves when its full. The Wrath meter builds if Ingrim hits an opponent or parries an attack but drains if the opponent hits Ingrim. When at half Wrath, Ingrim gets enhanced special moves and the ability to cancel his tilts and aerials into special moves on hit, enabling stronger confirms when he has a bit of Wrath available.

  • Focused Fury – After building the Wrath meter to full or landing Fspecial, Ingrim enters a buffed state known as Focused Fury for 3 seconds before resetting him back to half meter. When in this state, almost all of Ingrim’s moves get enhanced in drastic ways, gaining increased damage, combo potential, and kill power depending on the move, enabling high reward off of any hit when its available. Hitting opponents with combo oriented moves allows him to prologue the meter, while hitting an opponent with a kill oriented move will end Focused Fury immediately. Attempting a special cancel when in Focused Fury will end the buff immediately in exchange for the special move being the Wrath variant of the move, enabling devastating confirms if you are willing to burn the buff on one quick sequence.

  • Crawl Dash – Ingrim lacks a standard run, instead sporting a long active step dash that covers a ton of ground very quickly. His dash also lowers his hurtbox, enabling him to slip under certain aerial options in neutral. However, due to it being considered a dash start, he is unable to cancel his dash into any tilts aside from Dattack and is unable to perform a Reverse Aerial Rush to fly in with a Bair in neutral.
Notable moves
- Ingrim’s Nspecial, Mutate, is a two part projectile into hand bite attack that can be charged on both attacks. The projectile portion can be charged up to 3 levels, with the projectile getting bigger, traveling further and faster, dealing more damage, and gaining additional hitstun the longer its charged, while the bite portion only has 2 charge levels, gaining significantly higher kill power when fully charged. When at full Wrath, the projectile portion will skip a charge level and gain a new super charged full charged projectile, enabling it to be significantly more useful as a ranged pressure tool and combo starter from afar without the need to charge it

- Ingrim’s Fspecial, Possession, is a slow to start command grab that pulls opponents in over a large distance. On hit, Ingrim enters Focused Fury state for 3 seconds before spiking opponents down into a terrifying tech chase that, while heavily in Ingrim’s favor, presents an opportunity for the opponent to escape the oncoming onslaught or retaliate back against Ingrim’s reads. When at full Wrath, the pull in effect gets significantly scarier, pulling in from further away and gaining a much stronger pull in effect for its whole pull in range, allowing him to drag you in from a mile away if he can find the space to use it.

- Ingrim’s Uspecial, Ravage, is a leaping downward slash attack that spikes on its lower sweetspot, making for a devastating yet highly risky finisher off stage. On hit, Ingrim is not subjected to pratfall and is allowed to hitfall it, enabling him to give chase to anyone who he hit with the move for more potent reward. When at full Wrath, the entire slash becomes an brutally powerful spike that makes it even better at securing kills off stage

- Ingrim’s Dspecial, Swarm, is a shine styled special move that launches opponents up into the air on hit and is jump cancelable even on whiff. While a tad slower than other shines, it makes up for it with wider range than average. When at full Wrath, he summons a swarm of centipedes from the ground to tear apart the space around him, hitting multiple times though also increasing the move’s normal duration. Notably, jump canceling out of the move will leave behind the swarm on the field, enabling him to lock down the space he was standing in effectively or setting up for devastating punishes if it connects. Do keep in mind though that Ingrim cannot regen Wrath meter while the swarm is out and is unable to summon multiple swarms while in Focused Fury.

-Ingrim’s Dattack, Devour, is a lunging 2 hit bite attack that is excellent for whiff punishing and extending combos due to its solid travel distance and favorable knockback angle. This move lower his hurtbox significantly during its startup, allowing it to be used as an evasive punish against most projectiles or as a tricky anti air.

-Ingrim’s Fair, Lacerate, is a multi-hit spin attack with short range but solid kill power and a bit of horizontal burst movement during its active time. This move can be charged, with it gaining increased travel speed and kill power when its fully charged, making for an excellent high risk burst option to use in neutral or against someone off stage. The move is also wall jump cancelable during its endlag, making it useful as an option to get back to the stage horizontally alongside Nspecial.

@vido games Yes I did. Ingrim has been a character I've been actively working on for years and had mostly completed by the time the horror jam began in September. It only took me a week to finish up the animation work that still needed to be done for him
