Allies Unknown Redux Species: Wookiees

Descrizione
Description
This mod adds a new recruitable unit to XCOMs alien roster:

  • For the base cost of 55 supplies, wookiees are more more durable than your average soldier. Stat-wise, compared to humans, they gain 1 extra HP and gain about 10 points in average to their will score, as well as having a hacking stat of 15 (10 higher than humans). They are capable of climbing walls easily, due to their massive upper-body strength, and are experienced in using the Boltcaster, gaining bonuses to their hit and crit chance with it (both configurable). Additionally, wookiees are completely immune to all sources of Frost damage due to their thick fur.

Don't forget to go to Options > Gameplay and set the slider for the StarWarsWookieWarriorCosmeticsCosmetics to the minimum so that humans don't generate using Cavily's cosmetics.

Cosmetic Options
You have free range to use regular soldiers' cosmetic options on the wookiee--is it necessary? probably not, but honestly restricting cosmetics on the Grineer caused such a headache that I felt like leaving them open was for the best. Who knows? maybe that custom torso deco you like fits the wookiees by happenstance.

Additionally, Cavily's mod comes with two variants of wookiee parts, the Wookiee Warrior (with straight fur) and Chewbacca (with curled fur). Wookiees will generate using either full set of cosmetics, because I believed they didn't quite work together when mixing-and-matching. You are free to switch between those if you, for example, want your wookiee recruit to look more like Chewie.

Cavily also ported 4 TorsoDecor options and they can generate using any of them--save for the Chewbaccas: there is one WookieWarriorArmor that clips with the Chewbacca torso, so the Chewbacca variants don't generate wearing that.

I'm also sad to inform that wookiees generated by this mod will be speaking. I'm sure someone has ported over a wookiee (or Chewbacca) voice pack for you to use.
Known Issues
Yes I know about the weird comma before the fake Last Name, no it can't be removed sorry :(

Requirements
Obviously Allies Unknown Redux is required to be able to recruit wookiees to your forces.

Mitzruti's Perk Pack is required for the icon used for one of the wookiees' abilities: Wookiee Physiology. As well as for the WallClimbOverride that comes with that mod.

To be able to see your wookiees, you'll need Cavily's Star Wars Battlefront 2: Wookie Cosmetics, as all of the cometics used are from his mod.

Credits
Thanks to Cavily for allowing me to port his amazing wookiee cosmetics for this mod.
Thanks to Mitzruti yet again for the amazing Chimera Icons Perk Pack, which I've used to build the icon for the wookies' Bowcaster Expertise perk.
And huge thanks to the XCom modded discord for bearing with me as I fiddled with the ability code to get this one to work as intended.

@Slackboy101 I might, at some point. Though I do believe those work best as the Raider Faction mods MostlyHarmless already got. We'll what my next project will be after I finally finish making these damn dragons

Part of me hopes you do some of MostlyHarmless's stuff, like the Tau, the Hutt Cartel or the Nightsisters, hell, maybe a Mandalorian one

Fair enough. Thank you for responding.

@armbarchris damn I thought I had replied to this one, sorry. It's unlikely that I'll make it a class mod. Even within Allies Unknown I don't like the aliens that have custom classes, and only use the ones that play like regular soldiers with extra spice.

HELL YEAH!!!

Well, if after you check his collection and decide to implement a couple of races from there, maybe you can convince him to port some more interesting models and make a collaborative mod (without the commission)
Styrium  [autore] 16 ott, ore 12:24
@Ironmonk +aim and +crit is an interesting idea I didn't think of, and you might be right on the hacking side, I'm not fully sure how I'd implement it, but I might replace the +1 damage with those bonuses if I can figure it out.

That's good to know. I'm not fully sure I'll ask for the comissions, as a broke college student, but maybe some day.

I just remembered... Asthye takes comissions to port models from fortinite (if you are willing to pay)... I did check the model list (at the link he provided) and there is plenty of star wars and other media models that could easily be made into AU races.

@Styrium Thanks for the reply...

Yeah, I would have tried to make some a year ago when I did my last playthrough... but I switched completely to linux and it seems the DevTool doesn't work on linux... so I gave up any mod plans I had at the time.

On this particular mod, maybe you could:
- add +Aim or +Crit with boltcaster instead of +damage and maybe -Aim or -Crit with other weapons. (for better balance)
- add some Hack bonus since Wookies are really good at Tech
- Maybe reduce the Will bonus to 5?

@Ironmonk oh for sure, most of Cavily's mods are from before cooking assets was widely spread, and I can see why you'd avoid them. I can certainly check out Asthye's modlist and see if there's anything useful there.

But, despite the big filesize, I've made these last three especially because I've felt like they were begging to be made into AU aliens, since I'm not that fond of using non-human cosmetics on human soldiers myself.
