We Shall Meet In The Place Where There Is No Darkness

解説
This map has everything you could possibly want so long as all you want are glass mazes, repulsion gel, lasers, cubes and lightbridges. Make sure you have a little free time for this one, short it is not (I had planned to make it even bigger but the item limit wouldn't let me)

updated
14/10/14 - added some extra lights in the glass maze. made the easy to find 'easter egg' look less like a puzzle to avoid confusion. changed the third section for better navigation and puzzles. made clues for the hidden easter egg a little more visible

thanks, I've got BeeMod installed but I'm trying to get more used to the default editor before using too many of the additional elements yet, I do plan to try to learn Hammer eventually as well. I'll have a look at Material Handler too, thanks

Thanks vioray for the compliment on my map making, and I wish there were more portal players like you!
There's nothing wrong with going back and forth in a map in order to solve a puzzle(s), but for me if a map is busy looking, meaning too many cubes or tractor beams, light bridges etc. etc. etc. it can become monotonous and samey!
I myself when creating puzzles and designing a map will only use one tractor beam and light bridge per map, e.g. you won't see in my maps 2 light bridges, I try to be creative using just one!
I also try to be creative using only two cubes in my map, sometimes 3, like 2 cubes one sphere or vice versa!
Keep working at it cause I see some talent in your maps, also consider the beemod and item addons if you don't want to learn hammer!
Go to my map Material Handler and get the mods and addons in my description there easy to install.

I did try to make the back and forth less tedious by putting alternate ways of getting back to previous chambers, I don't know exactly why but the idea of reusing the same laser for a later puzzle after opening the wall strongly appealed to me so that meant backtracking to that room and so having to implement the sphere and reflector there into the puzzles since the player would have access to them (I did however make sure the cube for the lightbridge was locked away and that the cube dropper was blocked in case the player tried destroying it to return it to the original room)
anyway the constructive criticism is very much appreciated, especially coming from an experienced map-maker whose creations I've enjoyed

fair enough, to be honest the feedback is more valuable than votes anyway, especially when it's as constructive. you make a good point about that pit, in the initial version of the map there was a laser puzzle there which I removed and really I should have changed the shape of the room to accommodate that, I'll certainly fix that in the next update
as for the pedestal button, that is part of the optional challenge to find an easter egg hidden somewhere in the map
I'll take the comparison to your earlier works as a compliment, but I do get your meaning. I'm still fairly new to map making and my brain seems to default to big maps consisting of several smaller puzzles, I should experiment with some smaller maps of just those small puzzles sometimes

A lot of trekking back and forth getting the cubes, pressing buttons along the way, and
the puzzles were way to easy for me to solved, and in a way kinda boring, also the map kinda reminded me of my own earlier work with the big chambers!
Don't get me wrong, back when I started playing/making big maps like this one they were fun to me, now they just feel samey!
No vote on this map, but I took some pictures for you during my gameplay.
Picture I didn't have to activate the light bridge to get across but you should put a laser field
or goo in that pit because if the player falls in there they can't get out!
Picture 2 I deactivated the tractor beam but there's a pedestal button right there, and I don't know
what it does cause I never press it as I was exiting the map?!

thanks. I think I was trying to use too many ideas all at once in the final chamber on the first version, instead I'll keep some back for future maps where they'll hopefully fit better instead of being all cramped into too small an area

Much better than the first version of the puzzle. The improvements in the third room are so dramatically better and the room is much easier to navigate. One of my favorite puzzles yet.

First room is fantastic. Second room is fantastic. Third room is fantastic.
