On June 24, 2002, the Israel Defense Forces showed the world a new generation of tanks developed over nine years: the Merkava Mk4 main battle tank. The Merkava main battle tank is designed and improved based on actual combat experience. From the Merkava Mk1 main battle tank wearing explosive additional armor to the Merkava Mk3 main battle tank using modular composite armor, the armor protection technology of "Merkava" has always been very good. The modular composite armor components of the Merkava Mk4 main battle tank adopt new materials and new structural forms, and the armor protection has been further improved.
