Description
Hello everyone. I would like to talk a bit about myself and what I have been doing recently in relation to Teardown.

As some people have noticed, I haven't exactly uploaded much solo-work in a while. For the past 6 or so months, I've been working on quite a few projects. I've done everything from a 5-act shooter where you fight demons trying to break out of hell, to an exploration game about protesting against the demolition of a concrete city. To small technical experiments like PID controllers to drive cars, to corrupting the user's savegame. To custom tools for future use: 2 custom player controllers, 2 or 3 animation systems, a weapon handling toolkit, a full on level editor inside of Teardown. I've done a lot; and yet, hardly any of it is released. A lot of my stuff floats in a limbo.

and honestly, I don't care.
I don't mind that I have spent thousands of hours of my time working on things that don't get released, I had fun making them. I enjoy learning, I enjoy creating, I enjoy sharing. I love sharing so much, I can gush about my ideas for hours, in-fact I have. I've gushed to people in the modding-community, I've gushed to my best friends over text, I've gushed to my friends at lunch, and I've gushed to my brother while playing games. Not everything I do needs to lead up to a grand release - which is something that I've been striving for, and what usually ends up being my greatest struggle.

This project started out as a small map that I kitbashed together to showcase a weapon or two, nothing special other than background eye-candy. Over the course of a month, I decided to add some other things: A large metal cylinder that would raise and drop down, an eclipse, weather conditions... fish??? Those are only the parts of this mod that are completed, I kept adding more to that description, a lot more. I planned out a bunch of interactables, 2 other machines, a full layout, various creatures and various anomalies, and a bunch of flavor text on props. However, Today, I decided that this project is done. I'm releasing this mod as is.

Is it something that I consider the "grand release" I strive for? No.

I just want to use this time to say that releasing things can be scary, overwhelming, daunting, and really really hard - even if your project is in a 'finished' state. There is a self-inflicted pressure to publishing that don't I hear talked about enough, it's an awful feeling. Sometimes what you make doesn't meet the standards that you hold yourself up to, sometimes the project never feels done, sometimes you still have so much to do, and sometimes it just isn't what you wanted; despite what anyone says. I've felt like I've been tied down by projects that I don't want to work on anymore, ones that I am scared of publishing. I've realized overtime that I focus too much on the release of something rather than making it. And in doing so: I've lost my appetite.

What I am trying to get across is that you shouldn't let the finishing of a project stop you from working on it. Enjoy learning, enjoy creating, enjoy sharing.

- Love, Autumn

Thank you everyone for the sentimental comments, it has been truly heart-warming to read. I would like to clarify that I am not leaving the modding community. I wanted to share my experiences in it and hopefully provide consolation to anyone who finds themselves in a similar relation to their projects. Thank you for reading.

Consider supporting me on Ko-fi, thank you.

modding is art, the only reason i went into modding was to share my creativity with others, it wasn't very good but at least i am having fun, i do like drawing irl and its alright, kinda like my modding skills, i can't draw people nor make scripts, but im still learning, this mod (especially the desc) is an inspiration.

Map looks cool, reminds of the game CONTROL

May old gods rise again, to fight the dark, to keep the house clean.
