Description

This mod, created as a part of the Modathon 2024, reworks the army and warfare mechanics in a way that is friendly and easy to learn for the player by avoiding flooding the game with dozens of new mechanics, while still aiming to make it feel fresh and enjoyable!

Core Features:
- Army Doctrines: let you pick the way of building your army. Whether you want to make the largest army in the world, or maybe a smaller but very disciplined one, or maybe even focus on mercenaries, you can choose the way you like the most!
- Unit Professionalization: lets you spend your army experience to permanently boost a single unit type, further expanding your army specialization choices!
- Temporary boosts: if you are fighting a difficult war, you can spend your army experience to make it a bit easier with short-time, but sizable buff!
- Army Professionalism replaced with Army Experience, a new currency-style variable which gives no boosts, but allows you to utilize the core features of Professional Armies!
- Military Academy building, which allows you to increase your Army Experience gain!
- Army Doctrines synergy with the military idea groups you take - completing a certain idea group will further boost your army doctrine!
- High war exhaustion is now more punishing, weakening your army and giving you additional reason to end a long-lasting war as soon as possible!
- And more!

Translations:

Compatibility Patches:
- Europa Expanded
- Trade Goods Expanded

This mod is NOT ironman/achievement compatible! For the best experience with Professional Armies, Cradle of Civilization DLC is highly recommended.

Please note that this mod is still not fully polished, and may have balance issues. If you want to post a bug report or make a suggestion, you can post a comment on this workshop page, or join my modding Discord[discord.gg]!

Enjoy!

The only way to do this is by losing a war, in which case you will get a choice to reset your chosen army doctrine, albeit all army XP invested in the previous doctrine will not be regained.

is it possible to reset chosen doctrines so i can pick another one?

When making the mod, we thought that making temporary bonuses last only a few months would be a too short time frame because it would be very difficult to take advantage of them before they would end.

I like the Temporary boosts, but I think they should only work for 1-2 month, at least the battle ones, and for the Unit Professionalization shouldn't it make the more expensive rather than cheaper? Currently, there is no reason not to always max artillery

No, it will require a compatibility patch.

@Pup
You should be able to see a button in the top-left part of the military tab which opens the screen with all of the mod's main features. If you do not see the button, then you have incompatible UI mods enabled.

how do i access the new screens? like the army professionalism one and the modifiers

Does it work with extended timeline?

Maybe. But you are also allowed to create your own compatibility patch if you have enough EU4 modding knowledge.

I love the mod, I use it as much as I can.
However, it is not compatible with the Idea Variation mod. Idea Variation adds a development feature, dev points, and uses a Develop Provence toggle to allow dev to be funneled into specific provinces via the province gui. When adding Professional Armies, it changes the gui and mixes around the sizes of the gui, removing the toggle for development.
Will there be a patch for this by chance?
