Vanilla Recycling Expanded is our spin on recycling in RimWorld. No longer you will be left with hundreds of wastepacks that you will try to send away into distant parts of the world to forget about them. No longer you will have to try and cheese the game to get rid of pollution. Vanilla Recycling Expanded actually gives wastepacks a purpose, and will let you convert them into a variety of useful new resources!

Players will be able to create improved pumps to drain even more pollution, as well as construct special recycling stations that will turn wastepacks into precious resources whilst also generating a whole new type of wastepack that’s significantly more volatile. Players may also turn standard wastepacks into a different type of wastepacks that can be stored outside.

If you have any suggestions, make sure to leave them in the comments!

The content of this mod can be seen below.

A: Can I add it mid-playthrough to an existing save?
A: Yes, definitely.

Q: Does this work with Combat Extended?
A: No idea. Perhaps?

Q: I can’t find any recycling stuff in my game?
A: Ensure you have research the Basic recycling and Complex recycling research projects.

Q: Does this mod let us recycle apparel or weapons?
A: No, this mod simply lets you recycle wastepacks.

Q: This mod is imbalanced.
A: We accept all feedback. It’s very difficult to balance a mod that lets you produce something valuable from something considered to be ‘waste’. Big factor in that process is the large amount of work required. We have done the napkin math, but there is only so far you can take it. If you have some findings and you’d like to help us balance the numbers, leave a comment down below.

The source files are left in the 1.4 folder. Removing them reduces the mod's size significantly.

Is it just me or is the alloypack splitter ludicrously expensive for what it does? Why would a machine need a powerfocus chip to generate four bits of metal every five hours?

@Vaarelsauce If you don't feel like modding it yourself, I have a patch up on the workshop that increases their sizes. If you don't like the numbers in mine you could modify it to suit your needs as it only contains the stack size patching, none of the other code.

Stack size is XML defined, you can do that in a local copy of the mod

Would love if there's an option to tweak trashbrick stack size.
Actually, an option to tweak the stack size of all the materials this mod adds would be lovely.

Completely separate
Meme Jam 15 Oct @ 6:10pm
Is the radiation in this mod compatible with Rimatomics or are they separate?
Crippled-Knight 14 Oct @ 3:19pm
Another fun way to dispose trash bricks is to make salt out of them and add them to soup :D
Crippled-Knight 14 Oct @ 2:22pm
Also "radiation" mechanic is REALLY anoying, there is no warning that it starts happening, you cannot safely contain packs, because colonists tend to forget about it and throw them everywhere, walls do not stop it, and it kills WAY too fast.
Crippled-Knight 14 Oct @ 2:20pm
You can safely burn trash, it only creates toxic gas not pollution
