Vanilla Recycling Expanded is our spin on recycling in RimWorld. No longer you will be left with hundreds of wastepacks that you will try to send away into distant parts of the world to forget about them. No longer you will have to try and cheese the game to get rid of pollution. Vanilla Recycling Expanded actually gives wastepacks a purpose, and will let you convert them into a variety of useful new resources!

Players will be able to create improved pumps to drain even more pollution, as well as construct special recycling stations that will turn wastepacks into precious resources whilst also generating a whole new type of wastepack that’s significantly more volatile. Players may also turn standard wastepacks into a different type of wastepacks that can be stored outside.

If you have any suggestions, make sure to leave them in the comments!

The content of this mod can be seen below.

A: Can I add it mid-playthrough to an existing save?
A: Yes, definitely.

Q: Does this work with Combat Extended?
A: No idea. Perhaps?

Q: I can’t find any recycling stuff in my game?
A: Ensure you have research the Basic recycling and Complex recycling research projects.

Q: Does this mod let us recycle apparel or weapons?
A: No, this mod simply lets you recycle wastepacks.

Q: This mod is imbalanced.
A: We accept all feedback. It’s very difficult to balance a mod that lets you produce something valuable from something considered to be ‘waste’. Big factor in that process is the large amount of work required. We have done the napkin math, but there is only so far you can take it. If you have some findings and you’d like to help us balance the numbers, leave a comment down below.

Does that trash incinerator in the pictures exist in game

@GTMVifunny
Maybe one of your radioactive isotopacks is damaged? They spread toxic even if slightly (1%) damaged

is there a know issue where when you deconstruct the waste crates your entire map becomes toxic but doesnt show it? im not sure if i am missing something or what but i wanted to move all my recycling stuff and then all my colonist that were not immune to toxic just dropped dead to build up randomly and after a few reloads it kinda keeps happening. The odd part is the map isnt toxic and for colonist with traits that use the toxic they are not affected.

I'm using a mod that allow the research tree to change the location of each box. (Or maybe i't's vanilla setting?)

I don't remember havin done something like this myself but the boxes about vanilla recycling seems to be out of bound... You guys have an idea how i can reset this pls?

mb add an option to ask factions for vanilla trashdrops quest using comms console? Colony that gets resourses from trash could be fun run thing)

Ah ok I must have misread/misunderstood something then. :)

Is there an overlay for the radiation similar to the pollution overlay, so I can keep track of which parts of my base I have Chernobyl'ed ?
Oskar Potocki  [author] 16 Dec @ 11:51am
Nope. That's not their purpose. They exist to stop waste from deteriorating.

Aren't the waste crates suposed to make the radioactive isotopacks safe to be around, and also is it possible to view said radiation somehow ?

After some insects broke into my trash room and destroyed some crates + packs, I have have a death room ever since. :D

How fast does the Fastpump work? It doesnt give a speed, or a multiplier reference.

"Atomizers can't be made to work with anything else,
they are pretty hardcoded as they are"
"Well, not entirely true, they could be replicated from scratch
as a new building with new code that handled a new thing."

Well i didnt know for sure that they were hardcoded,
but i did suggest this in a previous comment, as i suspected it.
I saw a mod that adds new atomizers that can atomize nuclear waste,
from another mod. So i know that it is at least possible.

Adding separate atomizers for the different items also makes it more balanced,
as you would need more resources to build each type of atomizer.

Also, just saying, if you really dont want to add this in the base mod,
that's fine, of course. A separate submod would work just as well.
I know that you guys have a ton of mods to maintain,
so perhaps someone else could make this submod?
(once i have the time, ill look into making it myself)
