Silent Hill Music Replacement v2

Description
[MAKE SURE TO READ THE INSTRUCTIONS]
Silent Hill Music Replacement mod replaces 95% of zomboids vanilla music with tracks from Silent Hill 1, 2 & 3.

This is a complete overhaul of the previous mod that got broken upon the Soundworks update during build 41's development, thanks to everyone that tried out the old mod!

There are over 250 music files in zomboids music bank and this mod replaces 217 of them. Though I am missing a few songs here and there that I never hear in game that I will get too eventually.

The devs don't officially support modding the games bank files so you will need to install this mod manually

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
Optional:Make a backup of your ZomboidMusic.bank file located in ProjectZomboid\media\sound\banks\Desktop
(Otherwise you can validate your game to overwrite this installation)

Locate this mod in steamapps\workshop\content\108600\2718650240, drag and drop the media folder in the mod into your ProjectZomboid Folder/Directory usually in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ProjectZomboid

Make sure your music library is set to Official in the audio settings.
[For Build 41.71+] Make sure your MusicAction Style is set to Legacy (Thanks to Gl1tchyV00d00 for finding that out)

Restart Game if you have it open and Enjoy

Instructions for macOS.
Find the game folder (Steam Library - Right click - Show local files - Right click on the Project Zomboid - Show the contents of the package)

Follow the path - Contents - Java - Media - Sound - Banks - Desktop - ZomboidMusic.bank

Deleting "ZomboidMusic.bank".

We are looking for a folder with mods using this path (F4 and paste):

~/Library/Application Support/Steam

Next, follow the path: steamapps - workshop - content - 108600 - 2718650240 - mods - silenthillmusicmod2 - media - sound - banks - Desktop

Copy the file and paste it into the folder from where we deleted it in the previous step. That's all.

Troubleshooting:
If the music doesn't seem to change still despite carefully following the instructions above, make sure you are placing the mod in the correct workshop folder in the correct Drive, as sometimes when moving the games directories around can create ghost workshop folders in your steamapps folders.

Some Updates replace the mods music back to the vanilla music, you can fix this by simply reinstalling the mod by the instructions above.

Notes: keep in mind, I did edit many tracks to get silent hills ost into the game, so expect some popping and strange song transitions here and there. I will most likely be updating the mod to remove most of the worst offenders over time.
If you hear any Vanilla tracks still, please let me know as there may be a few lingering here and there due to me just never hearing them in game, so I never prioritized replacing them.

The Zombie animations in the videos are a Afraid of Monsters Zombie Anim mod

Original Composer: Akira Yamaoka

Silent Hill 1, 2 & 3 and their music is owned by Konami

Workshop ID: 2718650240

It's just a lot of work replacing the music. The second time I got around to doing it, it took me a good month to get it to this state. I'm okay with being the Silent Hill Music guy only. It's the only thing I got the passion for. :lunar2019piginablanket:

You know what? You could specialize in creating music or sound replacement mods. I've noticed that some modders focus exclusively on military gear, others on vehicles, or NPCs—but when it comes to music, it's scattered across multiple creators. It would be amazing to have a modder dedicated to offering complete soundtrack replacements, like one inspired by 28 Days Later or The Walking Dead.

Music plays such a huge role in the atmosphere, and having tailored soundtrack mods would bring a whole new layer of immersion to the game.

Anyway, thank you for this mod—it truly transforms the gameplay experience!🧟‍♂️🙏🏽

I've been meaning to add the 4th game tracks to the game, but I accidentally overwrote my changes on the mod a long time ago and kinda got demoralized to update it. :pasternack:

But I will update the mod for build 42 because I prefer silent hill over vanilla music myself, maybe sh4 will sneak in then.

A similar one that adds “In the house - In a hearbeat” from 28 days later as the chase theme would be amazing

Oh, I haven't even played the unstable yet. I will likely update before it's in stable.
