Sarcophilus MkIII - High level, small, agile and heavily armed dropship capital vessel

Description
Size class 1, unlock level 25 and CPU tier 2



The Sarcophilus MkIII is a small, airtight, heavily armed, warp capable dropship, that's about as agile as a fighter, despite being a capital ship. This ship is designed to safely carry a squad of ten soldiers to a mission zone. It's protected by a T2 shield and a outer hull constructed from a mix of hardened steel and combat steel panels. A small vessel can even 'piggyback' on the platform on top of this ship.



It's armed with six minigun turrets to neutralise enemy troops and drones. As well as being AI controlled in solo gameplay, these turrets can be directly controlled by passengers sitting in any one of the ten passenger seats. Four main large pulse laser guns can be used for heavy duty targets in space.

This capital vessel is size class 1, unlock level 25 and CPU tier 2. Despite its small size, the DS Mk III is well equipped and features a couple of internal areas. These include a couple of seating areas, so you can bring your friends with you too.


Weapons and Protection



The he Sarcophilus MkIII features:

  • Four large pulse lasers
  • Six minigun turrets covering all angles
  • Combination of hardened steel with some combat steel outer layer panels
  • Tier two hull shield

The cockpit is slightly recessed and features armoured windows to increase survivability, but still offers a good amount of visibility.


Equipment

Even with its compact size, this ship is equipped with quite a bit of equipment and features. There is also storage space for ammo and cargo; along with several tanks for fuel, oxygen and penatxid. Ventilators add oxygen to all habitable parts of the ship. There are two large T1 generators providing power.

Features include:

  • Armour locker
  • Fridge
  • Medic station
  • T2 hull shield
  • Detector

Despite the Sarcophilus MkIII being too compact to have space for an internal landing bay, a smaller ship (like any of my Barbastelle LX micro fighters) can 'piggyback' on the raised platform on the top of this ship, if you need even more firepower/combat options.




Decorative lighting and custom HUD



There are switchable flashing lights for a cinematic sci-fi look. There’s also a custom HUD with 3D elements. Spotlights can be turned on to light things up. The two equipment and troop seating areas are lit up. The cockpit area has some subtle blue lighting, but this can be switched off if not wanted, or being more stealthy.




Internal areas

There are a couple of areas inside the ship. These are a cockpit plus two separate seating areas for the troops. All these areas can be accessed by automatic ramps and lifts. These ramps are protected by large minigun turrets, for when you and your troops enter battle.




Custom shortcuts, signals and circuits

There are custom shortcuts and signals for switching various things on and off and to save energy/fuel.

Under the general tab in the control panel, just use the power, oxygen, weapon and shield switches. All other systems are controlled by custom shortcuts and signals to the right. Here’s what everything there does:

Thrusters have custom modes set up to save fuel. These need to be selected by switching the following custom signals on and off in the main control panel:

HoverMode - Deactivates all thrusters apart from bottom thrusters.. To hover in atmosphere.
CruiseSpace - Deactivates all thrusters apart from rear thrusters. To cruise while in space
CruiseAtmos - Deactivates all thrusters apart from rear and bottom thrusters. To cruise while in atmosphere.
AllThrustOff - Turns all thrusters and RCSs off.

Other custom signals and shortcuts are:

Turrets - Turns turrets on or off
MainGuns - Turns main guns on or off
CockpitLights - Turns cockpit lighting on or off
Spotlights - Spotlights on or off
FlashingLights - Turns external white flashing lights on/off
