Graphically, this guide gave me the best results (smooth high frame rate) but with freezes. Disabling Low Latency Mode does get rid of almost all the freezes, at the cost of what seems to be a less consistent frame rate. For what it's worth, Image Sharpening is greyed out and I can't select it, and it's called Image Scaling (3070M, certainly not an old card). Disabled Nvidia Overlay and Steam Overlay too for good measure. I'd appreciate any input, I don't know what else I can fix. I want the framerate stability of Low Latency Mode without the freezing it causes on my end. Perhaps if someone knows why the freezing occurs, we can keep fixing it. FWIW, I'm sure I'm not the only one trying to fix the game without downloading the new patch.

Yep, disabling Low Latency Mode fixed the freezes, which are down to once per level instead of once every 30 seconds. So far I've done dgVoodoo, fixed some .ini stuff, replaced some video .bik files, hopped the game .exe over to Windows XP SP3 Compatibility, and lowered my mouse's polling rate using the atrocious software it uses. I think this is as good as I'm going to get. Idk if this will help anyone, but the freezes seem to coincide with loading a new soundbite, ie the game will freeze while loading some sound effects for the first time, seemingly at random.

My guide works. It's given me a 144Hz RT and x2 FPS limit of refresh rate with clear image quality.

1) It's not my problem. Just buy a newer Nvidia GPU. For example 900 series and upper it.

2) I don't have any crapy AMD GPU to do this. Sorry for that 🤡

first in your NVID panel you have options no one else does..
this is in INSPECTOR but not Nvids panel refresh rate wise..
also its nvid biased, I have nvid but this doesnt show what to do for those that have amd.
ALSO following your guide after not using it made the game run terribly then crash.. so ugh
removing what you put in your nvid.. fixed the game for me just looks like crap
but doesnt crash.
