Description
This was my very first L4d2 to level design attempt, back from early 2014. I had to abandon it at the time because I completely messed up the optimization, so there was no hope it would ever be in a finished state. Now I have fixed it enough to at least compile properly, so you can walk through and take a tour.
THIS MAP IS NOT PLAYABLE – it has no nav-mesh and no zombies will spawn.
It is just meant as something you can walk through to perhaps draw some level design inspiration.
I have no intention of ever finishing it. Too many diagonally placed and rotated brushes have ruined any chance at proper optimization, and several areas are still very incomplete and lacking in detailing.

Features and Design Philosophy
The idea was to create a single-map campaign from beginning to finale. The setting of an evac center in a castle would provide interesting gameplay opportunities – specifically, allowing the special infected (with consideration towards versus) to attack from above, jumping down or using arrow slits and murder holes. There are two panic events. The first is lowering the drawbridge and the second is firing a cannon to blast your way into an inner keep. You would pass through a sewer section (where you would have to dodge a wandering witch) and later through a ransacked safe room. Players would expect a standard finale upon using the radio, but instead end up having to scavenge gas to keep a giant signal fire going.
That was the idea at least. Everything works as such, but no escape was ever implemented. And of course the map itself is incomplete and lacking a nav mesh.
