Despite the success in the second Ethiopian-Italian War, the Italians found themselves embroiled in a guerrilla war. The incessant uprisings of the Ethiopian people, attacks on transport hubs, as well as an attempt on the life of the Vice-King of Ethiopia Rodolfo Graziani, forced more and more forces and resources to fight the resistance, by 1940, the Italians had used about 110 thousand people, almost 1000 artillery guns and 150 aircraft. On April 6, 1941, the Italians were driven out of the capital, Addis Ababa. During the occupation, about 750 thousand people from the country's population were killed by repression and chemical weapons. Rodolfo Graziani, responsible for the genocide, was not punished after the war, instead of a 19-year-old sentence passed by the court, after serving only 4 months he was completely amnestied.
