Mechanics are simple and intuitive - keeping within the vanilla spirit without unnecessary fluff and production chains. Colonists will be able to cook up a variety of new meals, make mood-boosting desserts out of fruits, make filling grilled meals that lose the effect when frozen, create large bakes using flour or produce large quantities of soup through boiling ingredients for several days at a time. You can now transform animal milk into cheese inside a cheese press - and it gains quality and value, the longer it’s inside! Yes, alongside Vanilla Factions Expanded - Medieval you can now create a cheese and wine empire! Hopefully this will provide one more reason to keep livestock!

Our systems are heavily moddable and support a variety of mods. With Vanilla Factions Expanded - Insectoids you can now transform insectoid milk into insectoid cheese, and thanks to Sarg Bjornson, you can now utilise 19 (!) types of milk from Alpha Animals, Vanilla Genetics Expanded and Alpha Bees to create your cheese empire!

A new condiment system will allow you to create not-so-filling gourmet meals that apply 12h effects to people who consume them.

Absolutely recommended mods:
- Gastronomy
- Common Sense
- Variety Matters

Mod mechanics:

- Packed Meats will collide due to patching a method controlling meal thoughts

Q: How is this mod different to VGP/RimCuisine2 or other food oriented mods?
A: Beyond following the vanilla art style, this series gives everything a unique blessing and curse. Rather than having 20 nearly indistinguishable vegetable plants or meals we at the team believe every player should find something that is useful. Simply put, we add flavor we believe anybody can enjoy. All things are seamlessly merged with vanilla mechanics, making sure you don’t need to re-educate yourself on how the mod works. We also made sure to cut away any unnecessary resource and production chains, making sure to keep everything simple, yet engaging.

Q: Does it work alongside VGP/RimCuisine2?
A: Yes it does! We provided a patch that changes a few names so all mods can work alongside each other

Q: My gourmet meals are not stacking properly!
A: Gourmet meals stack by ingredients list to avoid condiment abuse

Q: Can I deep fry humans.
A: Yes! That’s the reason we made this mod!

Q: Can I eat canned food like a meal?
A: Yes, but it will not be very filling. Canned goods are made as ingredients that never spoil - they can be used in meal recipes.

Q: At what temperature does grilled meal lose it’s bonus?
A: Below 10ºC

Q: Where are the health conditions? (Cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure)
A: They were very unpopular, so we removed then come 1.4

Q: Will you keep updating the mod with new types of meals?
A: Any additional content will come in the form of extension modules, just like Vanilla Cooking Expanded - Stews!

Q: Is this mod save game compatible?
A: Yes

Q: These condiments/meals/food cooking techniques are totally unrealistic!
A: We need to remember it is a video game, and for the sake of simplicity we decided to abandon realism in some instances. Realism when it comes to cooking is not our primary concern - gameplay is.

Q: CE compatible?
A: Probably!

I've noticed a problem: If pawns eat a fine/lavish meal when they already have the mood buff from a gourmet meal (I used gourmet soup) , then the lavish meal buff is bugged on that pawn and they will never get the lavish meal mood buff unless it is cleared through character editor. So it seems like it doesn't allow the higher mood buff to be replaced by a lower one, but it becomes bugged instead and the lower meal buff simply won't work on that pawn anymore.

Hehe so thats a no. No alcohol/drugs and no ice cream, mousse, yoghurt, puddings, trifle etc for you teetotallers. Doesn't sound like much fun

Desserts are drugs in this mod

Teetotallers don't eat desserts because they are classified as a social drug.....any way around this?

Not sure if anyone else is having the issue? My pawns are not eating any of the food within this mod specifically. Even when disabling Vanilla Food as an option the pawns will default to eating raw ingredients. The bakes, soup and everything don't register as existing to them for some reason?

The gourmet meals default allow twisted meat as an ingredient, same for the different bakes. You probably want to double check all the recipes. Vanilla meals default disallow twisted meat since it gives a -10 mood debuff.

I found the culprit, it seems the More Filters Food option from FrozenSnowFox Tweaks adds the Canned Eggs into the unfertilised eggs category. It was indeed a weird mod interaction and not an oversight, sorry about that!

Ooh, I appologise then, I should have checked more myself before assuming. I'll have to poke around and see where its coming from. Thanks :)

You may have some weird mod interaction there... The egg canning recipe only accepts eggs. Canned eggs are not part of the egg (fert or unfert.) category. You can see it here: https://i.imgur.com/nZUo9qo.png

Hi I found a little oversight; the default recipe allowances for canning eggs includes canned eggs so if you dont go into the ingredients list to specifically disallow it, the pawns might end up in a loop making a single set of matryoskha cans. I was wondering why my steel stockpile was dwindling so quickly :P
