In reality, the term "Byzantine Empire" is a modern concept used by historians to refer to the eastern part of the Roman Empire after the fall of the Western Roman Empire in the 5th century.

At that time, the Eastern Roman Empire was generally called "the Roman Empire" by its inhabitants, and their state was known as the Imperium Romanum (Roman Empire).

The use of the term "Byzantine" to describe this period was introduced later, during the Renaissance, by German and French historians.

I am guessing this mod isn't needed, as you can rename the byzantine empire the "eastern roman empire"

ERE: "Oströmisches Reich" OR (sounds cooler) "Ostrom"
