Train Parts Gauges
*******************************************************************************************************************
Since the train era in Medieval Engineer begun, many compromises had to be made in our designs due to lack of apropriate train parts: wooden wheels, sconces in place of headlights, etc. This is why Xaerthus' Rail & Air Industries' invested heavily in a brand new development branch, where highly skilled engineers work day and night on bringing you custom parts, carefully adjusted for your best railroad experience.

For a very long time the only way of getting any feedback from your locomotives were primitive wooden aircraft gauges with only the speed being useful for train driving. Due to a huge leap forward in the aircraft instrument technology over at the Balloons mod it is now possible for our engineers to design and create fully custom gauges. You can choose yourself which info you want to have shown where and you can either use the gauges themselves in real time or get the measurements in text form for driving in spectator by a simple click on them.
Currently there are 11 types of gauges, each in 8 placement variant:
  • Altitude (m)
  • Altitude (ft)
  • Vertical Speed (m/s)
  • Vertical Speed (ft/s)
  • Speed (km/h)
  • Speed (mph)
  • Steam Pressure
  • Fuel and Oil
  • Regulator (throttle)
  • Rpm
  • Regulator+Rpm
There will probably be more types and designs added in the future, feel free to share your ideas on our discord, I will consider making them.

Operation Hints:
- The pressure, fuel/oil, regulator and rpm gauges show info for one of the engines present on the grid. You can change that engine by holding the use key on the gauge.
- The fuel.oil gauge updates every minute or so, so don't be surprised if it doesn't change immediately after refueling, etc.
- When activating the text read out the gauges themselves return to default position. It's either or.
- There are 8 positions for each gauge; 4 for full block alignment and 4 aloowing it to be placed on the inside of planks (with the drag trick or any other compounding trick)

They are supposed to go on a 'dashboard' so be placed on a inward plank. Use the placement tools to offset these accordingly

If you don't plan on adding anything else do you have a recommendation of what I could use to attach it to other blocks that look decent?

I have a minor complaint with the inventory and tank gauges group: no of those have a variant that actually visibly touch the block behind it and don't compound onto other blocks. It's the only group that doesn't have backings. If you still mod this game can we get ones that do have the backing?

Thanks for info and looking forward for new gauges, take your time, no rush on this.

Oh, i actually planned adding differently scaled gauges for some time now. Will do that definitely at some point (cannot say when though).

And about that needle, i know about that. Though i don't know why that happens. Probably due to the 'always active' trait. I'm using Peace's avionics script here so i cannot really change that.

Do you still accept suggestions ? How about speed gauge, but with max speed up to 120 km/h ? Despite primary role is for trains and aircraft, I foud it very useful for boats too. For ships, tipical max speed is around 30 knots or ~ 55 km/h, in very rare cases ships would move faster than that.

So, with reduced scale on gauge, it would be easier to read velocity on gauge with needle position. Also found small bug, don't know if something is wrong on my side or not. With Full avionics panel and steam gauge panel with multiple readings, needle properly change position on gauge. Speed gauge does not, despite being activated (velocity shown on HUD). And yes, I was having both, whole avionic panel and single speed gauge activated at same time.

I looked at it once and I thought that it only chances already existing things. Thanks for the response!

Sure, it's the Small Mod Tweaks, it adds a lot of additional shapes to the Iron Bars:

Here on the picture they are also painted with the brazing tool (from the Paintable Blocks Mod). Normally they have a rusty iron texture.

Can I ask what is that mod that adds those valves? I cannot find it.
