Welcome!
It's time for me to write another guide.
This time it's about a skin few people know exist and fewer know it has patterns.
The MAG-7 Sonar is not the best skin nor is it the rarest but it does have rare patterns which drastically change its look. I will go over those patterns in this guide but I will not go over their prices.

NOTE: I have inspected over 1500 Sonars but I can not guarantee that I have seen them all so there is a small chance that there is a good pattern that isn't listed, if you find one - let me know.

As always I have a collectors group for this guide. If you own at least one of the best: Blue / Gray / Electric - pattern/s you can join my MAG-7 Sonar Collectors Steam group.

I hope you enjoy and let's get into it :)

The pattern template

If you don't know what patterns are - check out my in depth guide about Floats and Patterns for more info: Floats & Patterns guide

This is the pattern template:

It consists of three main areas: Blue, yellowish Gray and Electric (random spatters that look like electric sparks to me).

Here are the Blue and Gray areas:

Here are the Electric areas:

The reason I am showing both of the Electric areas from the full template is because while they look very similar - their difference is where they connect to the Blue and Gray areas of the pattern:

As you can see - the left Electric area (upper on the full template) connects to the Gray at the top and the Blue at the bottom while the right one (lower on the full template) is the other way around. The reason this is important is going to be explained in the Electric patterns section.

Common patterns
Just like with every pattern based skin - it's easy to look at the good patterns and underestimate their rarity because you haven't seen many of the bad ones. That's why it's worth mentioning that the 28 note worthy patterns you will see in this guide are 28 out of nearly the full 1000 different patterns that exist.

Examples of common patterns:

Blue patterns

NOTE 1: The patterns shown here are from my own research. I Have inspected over 1500 Sonars but I can't guarantee that I have seen all 1000 patterns that this skin has. If I missed a good pattern please let me know about it.

NOTE 2: I tried to rank the patterns base on the amount of color they have for their respective category (in this case blue) and by their rotation. However these are still my rankings and they can't be purely objective so keep that in mind.

"P(number)" refers to the ranking of that pattern. For example: "P1" would mean the best pattern (pattern rank 1).
Each category will start by showing the best pattern with an in game screenshot. After that the other good patterns of that category will be listed by ranking from left to right - top to bottom.

Generally speaking if a CSGO skin has blue on it - it's immediately better and usually more valuable so it only makes sense to start with the Blue patterns.

P1: #412

This pattern is as good as it gets. it's perfectly straight and 100% blue.

Fun fact: #412 is also the best Fire & Ice pattern for Marble Fade skins that have Fire & Ice patterns.

P2 & P3: #671 & #897
These patterns are very similar but if you open them side by side you will notice that the #897 is a bit more tilted making the #671 a bit better.

P4 & P5: #474 & #748
These two are a bit tilted to opposite sides but the #474 has a bit less faded blue exposed giving it 4th place.

P6 & P7: #87 & #987
These two and the next two patterns have a lot of blue but are heavily tilted.

P8 & P9: #682 & #911
The #911 is less tilted but it's starting to fade into the Electric section of the template at the bottom right corner.

P10 & P11: #636 & #261
These two are very straight but they have a big Electric chunk at the top which makes them a lot worse.

Gray patterns

For some reason I only found three full Gray patterns. I noticed that the Gray area is one line shorter compared to the Blue area but I didn't realize the difference it makes is that big.

P1: #509

I am not as happy with this pattern as I am with the best Blue pattern (#412) because you can clearly see the Electric area starting to bleed into the Gray. That said - it's still a very straight full Gray pattern.

P2 & P3: #622 #348
These are very tilted but are still fully Gray and worthy of Gray pattern titles.

I am still confused as to how there are only three of these so if I did somehow mess up while researching them and there are more - please let me know about them.

Electric patterns

As I have mentioned in the "The pattern template" section - I am calling these patterns Electric patterns because the "noise" in their area of the template looks to me most like electric sparks. If you have a better idea for a name - let me know and I might change it :)

The reason both of the different Electric sections in the template are important is because they are not big enough to fit the MAG-7 on their own. This means that no matter which pattern you look at - there is always going to be a bit of Blue and / or Gray visible.
Because you see the weapon from above in game and because the Gray area is less intrusive than the Blue - I will consider the upper Electric area (the area with the Gray connected at the top and the Blue at the bottom) to be better and start with it first. After I show the good patterns for the upper Electric area I will move on to the bottom Electric area (Blue connecting at the top and Gray at the bottom).

Top Electric area:

P1: #763

This pattern is the best Electric pattern by far. It's the only straight Electric pattern and it's perfectly centered.

Fun fact: I mentioned that the #412 (the best Blue pattern) is also the best Fire & Ice pattern for Marble Fades. Marble Fades share the same scale as Fades but opposite (The best Fire & Ice pattern will be the worst Fade and vice versa). #763 is on the other end of that scale. It makes for the best Fade patterns and the worst Marble Fade patterns.

P2 & P3: #359 & #326
#359 is very similar to #763 but a bit more tilted. #326 is even more tilted and not centered making it worse.

P4 & P5: #961 & #242
These two patterns are similar to the #326. The #242 is very tilted giving it last place in this category.

Bottom Electric area:

P1 & P2: #180 & #541
#180's Blue line is not visible but I see it as a plus since it's very intrusive. #541 is very tilted but rather centered.

P3 & P4: #701 & #41
#701 is off-centered but straighter than the #41.

P5 & P6: #393 & #268
These patterns are rather straight but because the Electric area is a bit too low on the MAG-7 - the amount of Blue that is visible on them lends them the last two places in this section.

Split patterns
I don't know if I would consider these patterns to be good but while doing research on MAG-7 Sonars I found them and I thought they were pretty cool.
Split just means that the pattern has a combination of half Electric and half Blue / Gray.
This pattern is perfect for a Split pattern, it's perfectly straight and divided in the middle.
Pattern seed #420 is also a nice touch :)

This section was made mainly for the #420 but I thought I may as well try to put in a Split Gray pattern to match it. Neither the #602 nor the #341 are perfect since they are both tilted but they are the closest that I found to a perfect Gray Split pattern.

Closing notes
Thank you for reading my guide.

If you liked my guide please consider giving it a Like and maybe even fFavoriting.
These guides take a lot of time and effort and so an Award would be very much appreciated :)

While the specific patterns of the MAG-7 Sonar are rare - the MAG-7 Sonar itself is a low tier skin with a high quantity. Keep that in mind if you are thinking about getting one because it effects the quantity of each pattern thereby effecting the price as well.

This should be obvious but I am feeling obligated to write it anyway:
I do NOT give permission to anyone to reupload this guide in any way shape or form.
