Description
Agile, intelligent, and lethal - all apt descriptions for the Guard Dog! Specifically bred to fight on the battlefield, this boy has all the bark and bite. In fact, Mann Co has told us he contains almost 50% more bite and 250% more bark!

With a pair of deadly fire devices and ready to attack any enemy on the spot, they also provide support to their teammates, handing them ammunition and first aid kits all over the field with a special mechanical lifting device.

Hey, It's been a while.
While I'm busy with my university studies I barely had any time to focus on more model releases (oh my!), in the current situation of Team Fortress 2 It might not have been a surprise at all to see the further decline of content creation.

I decided to look back onto the old days when TF2 was rising and people created amazing content, like the Guard Dog fan-made update[guarddog.50webs.com], remember it?

The Guard Dog was one of the earliest examples of great community work, a.k.a class update "ideas" for Team Fortress 2 brought by Pyanodon[guarddog.50webs.com]. I'd say due to technical reasons (e.g impletenting animations such as running backwards for quadruped-based character model) and other gameplay balance reasons It would have been a very difficult task to overtake and implement such thing into the game. But that doesn't mean the idea/model couldn't be used.

I've spent days/weeks creating my own version of the 3D model, and I'm happy with the overall results. Thank you Pyanodon[guarddog.50webs.com] for the amount of effort and time it took to create the webpage and the Guard Dog model, I'm really hoping you don't mind to have an imitation of the model released for our Film creators and artists. If you read this, please contact me ( maxxywarrior@gmail.com ), I can add you as a contributor to the workshop release pages! Lastly, I also want to thank all the contributors for helping me with the model release, most notably Anomidae and Magnus for creating an amazing trailer, and Cryme Tyme and VaultScout for a visual guideline/concept art, and lastly Sync for model testing + a promotion image! P.S Valve, please give us a statement about the Saxxy Awards/Source Filmmaker, nobody knows if we should work on our films or not.

FAQ:

- "The model is not working, textures are missing, what can I do?"
- Download the legacy addon from here.[dl.dropboxusercontent.com] and install it to your game folder.
- "Is this a playermodel?"
- Nope. The model is created for animators and artists.
- "Model is stuck on the ground, what can I do?"
- Try to spawn the model while looking at a wall, or a different surface. It's inconsistent.
- "The weapons are hard to control, what can I do?"
- Try to use the Ragdoll Mover. Otherwise I can't recommend going indepth with the weapon controls using the phygun, because It's impossible. You can also try the Source Filmmaker version (originally we intended this rendition for SFM only)
- "Why can't we have the original model?"
- I tried to contact the creator and no such luck, rumours also say that the files of the model are lost due to HDD failure.
- "Why is the skeleton not biologycally accurate?"
- It's not accurate because a game model has to deform slightly differently in order to compensate for limitations / minimalism.
- "Will you release more character models in the future?"
- Yes. However there is no approximate release date for any of the potential models.
