Roguelight

Description
This mod is still heavily a work in progress mainly because of the issues of creating additional player inventory spell slots (originally 4) and working with the UI for that. Also massproducing good looking level chunks with only one pair of hands is going to take quite some time. At this point this game is quite unplayable or will give you a joy of just 25 or less minutes. But to keep all those wanting to be updated on the mods progress or to help, is why I posted it here.

Roguelight is a roguelike gameplay conversion mod. Every character you create in this mod is set to hardcore, they have no pets, neither skills, but at the moment they have their own charge bars (might change). Everything has to be found in the game including your pet and the skills. Every levels theme and rooms will be randomized keeping the game fresh during every single replay, you can play this solo or with your friends or with randoms. When playing with randoms I suggest to start the game with new characters and a fresh game.

And yes no towns of sanctuary where you could retreat. Those will be replaced by Outposts to where you might randomly get in the middle of switching levels. Also there will be no way to get back to levels you have already passed. (portal scrolls at this time don't work and those will be removed.)

PS. I also have anticipated before releasing this mod that you can make hardcore free characters (with pets) by creating some in the vanilla and loading them here. Also you might get back to lower levels by joining a multiplayer game that hasn't gotten as far as you. But all these will just ruin the main concept of this mod for you as a player. To give the game a long life I wouldn't recommend you to do that.

Yours

Loving the mod already, lots of potential and having a blast. :) Kind of reminds me of Diablo 1, with it's random needing to find books, spells and so on. Not sure if it's been addressed, but creating a character seems to just be invisible. (Not that it matters much of course.) :wrynhappy:

Keep up the amazing work!

Hey man, great mod, I really like the chunks and all that you made for it... But I don't know is this is a bug, or is just as far as you had made it playabe, but I have got to a point where I can't advance anymore, the dungeon doesn't have an exit, and there seems to be missing someting... Is the dungeon where the bandits apear and there is a false sun dial (I can't find the real one, checked all the map) Hope you still wanna work on this, is really a great work :outlander: :luck:

I really like it, I would love to have a character creation, I can't see any character when I start a new character.

TL2 was a Diablo-Clone or Dungeon Crawler, a completely different subgenre of RPG from Rogue-like. The key aspects of a Rogue-like are randomized dungeons, perma-death and limited starting inventory, letting the randomized aspects decide how you build and fight as a character.

I don't know WHAT rogue-likes you were playing, but TL2 was not one on any level. Don't get two niche categories of RPG confused.

TL2 was already roguelike, really. Roguelike iron-man style isn't the only roguelike out there. :p

Enchanters wont let you leave. If you enter their screen nothing can get you out. the x wont work, neither will the close tab nor space. pressing esc zooms you out as if you got control back, but you wont be able to move.
