I had high hopes for Femboy Bangers 2. In fact, I was midway through writing an extremely positive review for "My Stepbro is a Femboy" by the same developer before this one dropped, but seeing such a prolific title as Femboy Bangers 2 changed my priorities a bit, so I've put that review on hold. To give a bit of context, following my review of the original Femboy Bangers - Pub n' Grill, I began playing all of this developer's femboy-related games. I believe Femboys of the Phalanx has the most interesting story, characters, and worldbuilding, while I believe Femboy Besties was the most lacking, having only a single sex scene with two characters. The original Femboy Bangers - Pub n' Grill struck a nice balance out of the gate, with multiple fun characters with dynamic poses and expressions you meet throughout the game, and I hold My Stepbro is a Femboy in high regard for the amount of customizability it introduced, with a robust pronoun editor for both you and the titular step-sibling, and even a genital editor for yourself, for the first time in an Owlyboi game. All this to say: I am quite familiar with Owlyboi's work and what they have and have not gotten right, in terms of femboy-related content, in the past, and it pains me to say with that knowledge that, Femboy Bangers 2, is an unfortunate disappointment.
Now, to get the good out of the way, the art quality of the game is quite a bit better than Femboy Bangers - Pub 'n Grill, and though this is just a personal thing, i found the sex scene in this game extremely hot. That's about the best I can say though, and yes, I do mean sex *scene*. Unlike Femboy Bangers - Pub n' Grill, which sees you engaging in three sets of interesting intercourse with three different members of staff, this game is shorter than the original and contains only one sex scene, with two members of staff at once. Additionally, the quality of life improvements from My Stepbro is a Femboy are nowhere to be seen. I thought this was a wonderful innovation in that game which further pryed at the point I got at in my first review of universal appeal, and I'd wondered at the time what future innovations we might see. Femboy Bangers 2, though, has none of it, and no profound innovations of its own, either.
The game also abstains from showing any of the beloved characters from the first Femboy Bangers. To its credit, they do establish this Femboy Bangers as being a new location in the protagonist's hometown, so perhaps this is simply a different location than the first game, or even a prequel! But, I have numerous reasons to believe this is not the case: In addition to the lack of any improvements from the first game past the art direction (which had slowly been getting better over the course of this developer's games anyway, and can't really be credited specifically to FB2), there was one detail that caught my eye early on. On a few occasions in this game, the game references the waiters' skirts flipping up, revealing their pink panties. This would be fine, if not for the fact that the uniform for Femboy Bangers does *not* have a skirt, and neither of the referenced characters in this game have one either. The location doesn't even look similar to the previously established Femboy Bangers restaraunt. I can't know for certain, but it gives the impression that this game was written as a completely different Femboy restaraunt game, similar to Femboys & Fries, then quickly changed into a Femboy Bangers - Pub n' Grill "sequel" to make a little dough-- to ride off the back of a better, previous work. Furthermore, the designs of the game's waiters seem to be entirely... reused from previous titles. Paige resembles Blu from Femboy Besties and Ariel looks identical to the femboy from Femboys and Fries-- but these are *not* the same characters, I assure you. It's as though there simply wasn't enough care to make new characters-- or even have the guts to make it a proper sequel story and bring back old characters proper! It's just the old designs in new clothes with different names.
It doesn't stop there though, the characters all seem to emote *less* than any previous femboy from one of this developer's games. Instead they use emoticons in text rather than properly emoting on their portrait. I cannot properly communicate how jarring it is when a character says "See ;)" while their picture above the text box is *not* winking. The original game did not have this issue, and properly showed its characters reacting in the way they were. It seems cheap, and a likely result of a rushed job, more than anything, if you ask me. It's such a disappointing follow-up. If you're stuck between getting this game or its predecessor, just go with the original. It's clear that that's where the passion was. 0/10
