Lai Qingde (October 6, 1959 -), a politician of the Republic of China, a member of the Democratic Progressive Party, currently the President of the Republic of China (also Chairman of the National Security Council), Chairman of the Democratic Progressive Party and Vice President of the Chinese Cultural Federation, and former Vice President of the Republic of China President, President of the Executive Yuan, Mayor of Tainan City, Legislators, Representatives of the National Assembly, etc. He attended Taipei City Jianguo Senior High School in high school and received a bachelor's degree in Rehabilitation Medicine from National Taiwan University. He then obtained a post-baccalaureate medical degree from National Cheng Kung University School of Medicine and a master's degree in public health from Harvard University in 2003. Originally a physician, he later entered politics by serving as the general convener of the "National Physicians Support Association" when Chen Dingnan ran for governor of Taiwan Province. He has been elected as a representative and legislator to the National Assembly many times, and was elected mayor of Tainan City in 2010. He was successfully re-elected in 2014.
