Despite the unruly and stereotypical zombie artwork/presentation, when someone actually digs into this it can be found there is an extreme amount of depth and realism. Combat and surviving is very, very threatening, all throughout the vanilla and mods there is always one thing coming to kill you one way or another. Zombies are actually pretty fun to kill despite how simple they are, and I'm not one that usually likes the zombie genre that much but this game changes that. The game tells you from the start explicitly "You are going to die, eventually.". Besides surviving and combat, the mechanics, animations, and overall polish is very high, with only some moments where an uncoordinated player may get frustrated by how precise you have to be. I discovered this game a few days ago and have been impressed beyond belief, this is definitely one of those "Don't judge a book by it's cover" games.
I have also gotten addicted to it's gameplay, especially with it's dawning and overwhelming amount of mods.
