I am not sure the version I am playing but I downloaded it off of Steam as of 11/01/2018.

As someone who has played the original HL, HL-Source, and now Black Mesa. I gotta say this is the best version out there to play.

While I did enjoy the HL-Source version better than the original even though most people seem to hate it. Black Mesa is like the remastered version. It puts the original HL on par with HL2 even though by all rights Black Mesa is better graphically than HL2, but you get what I mean. I do admit that I tried Black Mesa a few years back and got pretty far into it then quit. When I got to the part of the game with the soldiers I felt the difficulty balance was way off. I didn't think I should have to drop the difficulty to easy to fix that. Considering I've been playing FPS since the original DOOM days on PC, I knew it wasn't my skills that were at fault. Picking the game back up now and getting to that same area. I feel the developers have adjusted the difficulty balance since I played. I do feel that they need to tweak it more still. Yes, I did manage to beat the game on normal up to where it ends before going to Xen. I died a lot having to reload quicksaves. There is some balance that is off. Either weapon damage, enemy health, or your own health damage. I am speaking for normal difficulty only. I didn't test the other difficulties. That is my main issue with Black Mesa.

The only real glitch/bug I ran into I posted in the community forums and am awaiting a response from devs or players. I had skybox texture disappear and turn black after loading a quicksave. My two issues aside, the game is in Early Access and not finished.

Crowbar Collective did an awesome job on this game. The great thing too is they didn't try to deviate from what makes HL great and what it is. They just made a polished and detailed version. I am glad for them that Valve lets them sell it for profit on Steam. If you have never played HL or want to replay it this is the version to play. Keep in mind it isn't finished yet. Let's hope with all the effort that has been put in so far they will finish it. Thanks for making this game for the player base.
