I used to play the 2nd edition Cyberpunk 2020 RPG on tabletop. I love the aesthetic and style of Cyberpunk, however, I believe this game is style over substance in a lot of ways (which is ironic given the motto of the setting). I would rate this game a 5/10, as the game itself is serviceable, but the flat combat and stiff movement experience did not impress me (maybe 12 years ago it would have).

The most pressing issue would have to be the RPG elements, as the game was marketed in many ways as an expansive choose your own path experience (like any good role playing game should), but it became clear to me that it had the illusion of choice and an ultimately linear story. Because I was not able to role play the character I truly wanted, I believe the game fails to be a true RPG.

All that being said, I believe the game is not completely terrible, only average; however, I find it interesting I couldn't even hold onto this game even though I grabbed it on sale after waiting 4 years in anticipation for it to be fixed. Perhaps the sting of the old release deception will remain, or I may give it another try when its a total of 10 dollars. I believe No Mans Sky was a very good example of righting wrongs, but CDPR is going to have to try a lot harder than it has to make something even near a "masterpiece" (such as witcher3 etc).

Loved the anime, but that is only a narrative and does not affect the game experience. Game-play is too bland and V is kind of annoying to listen to, but beyond this, I still find the worst part to be that I cannot at least warp V into another character I created in the original RPG, which means that this game fails to be a my kind of RPG (and no, just because you made him look the way you want him to, doesn't mask the illusion).

Dude, you didn't even get past the prologue of the game and you gonna complain about it being linear. Lmao. L take.

Honestly wish i could have played it more to have a more personal concrete opinion, but then again, linear so not much different than whatever I watched online to make sure of my decision.
Ultimately, getting my money back to put anywhere else so I wont complain.
