4/5 I enjoyed my time with this game, despite it's many bugs and storytelling flaws. As a standalone Mass Effect game it's good! Also I love Jaal so much.

I love this game very dearly and I feel bad I didn't write a proper review for it earlier. It made me realize how much I loved sci-fi stories and most of all, RPG games. The worldbuilding Mass Effect does is fantastic and as a player it made me feel like every decision I made had an impact. It made me feel that I actually changed the world and affected the characters mindsets. I don't think I have experienced that in another game series. I could praise everything about these games for weeks straight, but instead I'm just gonna tell you to experience it yourself. It has very nice aliens.

After playing through both Inquisition and Origins, I can safely say this combat system probably was my favorite. It expanded upon what was in Origins and made some quality of life changes that stuck around for Inquisition too. I had a lot of fun with this one, even though this was my first playthrough and it was on hard mode. Sometimes it made some fights...really frustrating... But if you played Origins first (on normal mode) and liked the difficulty I would still recommend playing this on hard mode first.

The characters really are the highlight of this game. Origins was more story-based and excelled on that and this game excels at a character-driven story. The group of characters for the most part feels like a real friend group and you can really see these characters well...as more human than ever before or since the series started. I have some nitpicks about how they handled some things, but nothing that major. It really comes down to just my personal opinions more than anything. Objectively good. My favorites were probably Merrill, Isabela, and Meredith (yes, I said it. I liked Meredith.)

Overall I would still give this 5/5. It's hard to say if this is my favorite for now, but I definitely recommend it.

I have lots of mixed feelings about this game and what it did with the story of the first two games (or rather...what it didn't do.) I can't really treat this as a separate entity of it's own, but I also can't let go of my love for the two games that came before. The cases are usually very convoluted, the characters are interesting but many of them lack depth and the story...well, I will say I really like the ending, even if it felt very awful at first. It really hammered home the messages this series wants to tell and it works really well as the ultimate ending of the series. This game had a lot of potential and I feel like it wasted it by trying to do too much.

Almost perfect sequel, which adds upon and expands all the themes the first game introduced. But to play this I highly recommend playing the first one before this. You can't get the full story otherwise. Even still this is a very good story with lots of heart and with great and complicated characters. The struggles they have feel real and believable, even if some of them have more ridiculous talents. The game also has by far the most interesting mysteries and cases, which I need to give points for too. One of my favorites for sure.
