Early Access Review
Farming Made Fun!?

If you've ever played a farming simulator and thought that the game was missing a crucial element of reality and the sensation of being an actual farmer (looking at you FS17 -_-), then Farmers Dynasty can certainly fill that need. Even though the game is still in early access it certainly has the potential to be a brilliant game and I personly believe that the game is already an improvement on the many other farming simulators out there.

Pro's

The game feels very full and open, driving around the countryside, past the farmlands and barns, really makes you feel like you're actually there taking in the fresh country air. It's as realistic as it can be without it becoming too boring and having to actually repair and constantly work on your farm and provide for your family, certainly makes the game feel much more lifelike, realistic and very enjoyable. I actually liked helping out neighbours and growing my social standing with the community, it did feel like I was growing to be part of their town, although I do feel they should compensate you a little more than some old machinery for all the work you have to do (which can be a lot in some cases). I got the game on the Steam sale for 140 ZAR ($10) which some might feel is a lot for an indie game, but having played around 20 hours at this stage and not even begun to start farming (I was working on my house a lot xD), I feel it's not too bad a price for the amount of content you get, and as I said before, to me this game is already an improvement on most if not all simulators of the genre which you would usually spend a bit more money on and yet doesn't feel nearly as realistic...

Cons

Don't get me wrong though the game is definitely not without its faults... Graphically the game looks very pleasant and I haven't had much trouble in running it yet, besides one crash while fertilising my fields and the distance rendering can do with an improvement, (I run it on a GTX 1070), there are also the occasional dips in framerate especially while driving any vehicle in game. The AI is still very "stiff" and character models seem to be used repeatedly, sometimes the character's dialogue repeats itself and the voice acting definitely sounds weird, with most people (including yourself) sounding quite robotic, (it does give you a laugh though :P). The character animations are also very wonky and while speaking the characters mouths aren't moving, (I believe they'll most probably fix this by the time of full release though). The train going around town is also just made up of only the front end of a modern looking high-speed train, that I feel doesn't really fit with the rest of the scenery (even though the game does play off in modern times it tends to look silly) and having played it for this long now I really feel they can make the starting equipment and vehicles a bit faster because getting new gear is VERY expensive and it does make the game drag a little.

Conclusion

And yet even after all these faults, I can't not love this game. It's really enjoyable and fun to play, hence the 'recommended' rating, if the devs continue to work on it though. It's still an early access title and I do believe many of the faults mentioned will be ironed out in future, at least I really hope so. The game is certainly a great idea and I could see it easily beat many of its competitors if optimized and I just can't wait to see what the future of Farmers Dynasty holds.
