When I was small, I loved the strategy called Disciples II. Its continuation Disciples III. attempted for some kind of hex based combat, but failed miserable with campaign management. Age of Wonders III does correctly pretty much everything Disciples did wrong.

The combat is engaging, research gives you options, but not too much options to make you stuck tinkering about the best course of action. The combat is engaging with infinite number of unique units. Campaign is well written and allows you to try different heroes (you are not stuck with the one you begin with). Everything seems fluent and well-thought as well as well-tested. Even spells are decent but not game ruining. Spells are an element, which some game makers make either too strong or too meaningless. Wonders made it just fine for me.

I would complain if there was anything to complain about. Well, there is tutorial, which seems slow and it feels like it does not explain all advanced mechanics well. Especially combat mechanics or what citizens are for in the cities. But who would refuse the game because of short tutorial, right?

I got it for free for some reason and if dev's goal is to make people buy DLCs or if they work on Wonders IV, they can count me in if I find more time to play.

Controling the game feels like I would be doing better on mobile. And it is originally a mobile game. Plus the design seems very simplistic. Could be fun on mobile, but I expect more on laptop.

About controling: There is no button such as attack with all, you have to drag each creature to attack with it. It's not a disaster when you normally don't have more than 4 creatures on the board. What makes me criticize this is a small delay between action and the time you can make another action. It is small, about half a second.

About design: I encountered only creature and spell cards. Good side is the game is fast without controling any other permanents. But it does not impress me with possible playstyles. I have been through several initial tutorial/campaign games without being introduced to anything else, so I guess there is not any other card type. A difference from other games is that you (your hero) has abilities and can attack / take retaliate damage as well. But I have seen this in other games, particulary when you equip heroe's weapon or smthg.


Certainly, download Heresy on the phone. But on pc, you can find games with deeper gameplay. One strong competitor is MTG Arena. I used to play Eternal Card Game and I know there is Artifact (both can be dead or dying). And a game from Witcher's world I can't recall is decent too.

Must mention the community looks friendly here. Not seen in games these days!

Very fun strategic game. I've spent hours on playing before it even came to steam. Perhaps, it is the oldest game I don't mind playing against with friends. But might be outdated for new people to come.

The advantage over any other game I have seen so far is infinite number of player-build expansions even transforming the game from strategic to RPG in some cases (Strange Trader Legacy, Legends of the Invincible, Sx maps). For multiplayer, Ageless Era is very favourite expansion adding dozens of races, pretty balanced for a normal match. You should probably begin with something easier like Era of Magic.

Recommended if you don't mind old graphics. Skills matter a lot too.

For it is early acess I say GOOD! But so far only 4 kinds of puzzles are available.

You attack other players who can use randomly generated puzzles or make their own to defense. You have to include all 4 on defense. I hope there will be more than 4 and not all of them will have to be included.

But if you like pexeso, labyrinth, and such, you will like Relik.

I am sorry to change the review, but there was a great shrink in a population and I lost twice the arena (deck picked on the way format) against the same person. It wouldn't be bad in any way, but the game is not that much about strategy in general. It is one of those card games, which offer you cards working similar to 'win button'. All classes have them. Some more, some less. The gameplay is way too fast to use strategy as well.

The developer pushes people to play the game by establishing tournaments for real cash. There is no better way to say the game is not worth playing. Even though, the tournaments may become good, the game has to be good in the first place. And, I don't consider Hand of the Gods good or better than other card games in any way.

I suspect they matched me with bots. I have 40 kills with just one death or so in each match. So far I played 4 and won't continue as Dota 2 is better. This game would have potential if more people are around (or serious players if these were no bots). It is very very simplified MOBA to Dota 2 and there is a minor pay2win element (decreases cooldown or increases duration of travelling and team abilities like extra speed if you rush towards the battlefield or minishop open anywhere on your half, they are not game changing at all). Heroes look similar (Ares - Legion Commander), but are either for cash or temporary as set of free heroes changes.

The one thing I appreciate about Heroes Evolved (really evolved in that) is no teleport scroll. Unfortunately, it was made one of these items with incredibly long cooldown (VIP slightly slightly helps with that). If it had some reasonable cooldown, it would be excellent change as I hate keeping a room in the inventory for TP scroll all the time.

All in all, I recommend this game. It is just 1.2Mb to download (rest likely downloads before the match if you lack something, requirements say you need 2Gb). You may like it or may not. I did but it was not enough to prioritize to other stuff to do.

Dwarves and Chaos. This combination even sounds very deadly...

The game needs more room-types and content in general to be good. I quite enjoy it. Picking warriors over mages really matters. I feel positive about the future content. Replayability is high even now.

However, there are two negative aspects of the game. You can simply overrun AI that it can never reach you and kill your squad at all. I did it. Even when I fought the boss, it killed all my fighters including me and then, my warrior Damon took one on one on this boss. Damon won easily. That's a sort of a balance issue, which can be easily repeated if you get experience gain boosting item early in the game or some damn good roulette results. Another problem connected to balance is at the start, where if you fight twice against 3 enemies and after that boss comes, the opposite happens. You don't stand a chance.

Second negative aspect I can not stand by is that you can play this game for free on armorgames with all content included. I believe they should have some sort of limited acess to the game. I don't like to pay for what is free.


All in all, the game is good and developer still works on it. As it is early acess, both negatives can be erased or fixed and I look forward to the future development.

The game is balanced, interesting to start, but comes with no new mechanics to the card games. Gameplay gets boring over time as it is too similar to other card games. Basically, it is almost same as Dire Wolf's Eternal Legend. Just the world is different. And there are no hero weapons.

I like these details like all cards have their taunt for coming into play as well as for attack. Your avatar gives you a chance to find one of specific cards affiliated with it. And all races have their own messages for Hello! and other. These are but details. A complete product is of boring gameplay and gets bored too fast.

This game is unique, original, but it is not deep at all. Too simplified. No intelligence, strategy or just thinking is required.
