I have so much I want to write about this game. I'll start with 'I love it', anyway, let's get that out of the way first.

I am Alive had a long and problematic development cycle. At one stage, Ubisoft had intended to start a franchise with this game. I can see how it could have been as successful as Assassin's Creed or Far Cry. There are similarities to The Last of Us which of course became a huge success for, developer, Naughty Dog.

The reality though, is that in the end the game was released, in a stripped down and relatively short state. It can be completed in around five hours but it does have a lot of replay value. There are achievements, which for some reason are not registered on Steam but can be found on the game's Main Menu screen.

This game is a lot of fun, the combat sytem is unique, the climbing sequences are amazing and the game world is genuinely interesting. While I am playing, I can really see the potential I am Alive had to be just as successful as any other Ubisoft game. There are gameplay elements that were innovative at the time of it's release. I'd bet money that some major game developers have been influenced by this game. I think the combat system, though, is unique even to this day and it's really cool.

However, I am Alive's tone is maybe a bit too miserable for most people, including myself. So what I did was, I turned off the depressing in game music and added a SweetFX profile for more colour. Technically, the game ran great for me on a GTX 980, running Windows 10, at a solid 60FPS. There are some low resolution textures and some dodgey lighting affects but the game looks great for the most part. The game world is dynamic and believable from the top of ruined sky scrapers, to down on the streets, below the killer dust.

I am Alive is now one of my favourite games and in a way I'm glad the game ended up as it is, It's a hidden little gem, that most people over look, which just makes me love it even more. I highly recommend that you give it a try!!
