I haven't finished this game yet, I bought it back in 2017 and thought it looked neat, so I got it and started playing it. Not the type of game I normally play since I usually play games that quite LITERALLY give you everything on a silver platter, a bit exaggerated, but you get me. Thing is with Prey is you're not told anything, you literally don't have a clue on what to do. The game starts you off in a apartment building, and your told you have a 9 am appointment in the testing lab. Reading your emails provided by your brother and the staff, you're to get ready and get on the helicopter, and meet your brother for the testing.

Upon meeting your brother you're told to get in the testing area, and begin testing. The testing doesn't take long and an unusual thing happens. A so called, "Mimic", mimics Bellamy's coffee mug and kills him, and upon witnessing this, you're sedated and magically you wake back up in your apartment, in bed once again. Come to find out from said emails, you're NOT safe, you MUST escape your building which turns out, it was just a simulation!

Skipping the story the game like I said, doesn't tell you where to go, you're forced to read emails and figure out what to do. It's not the kind of game to hold your hand and say go here, you MUST read! I for one do not like reading so, this is a hard one for me to play through, as I stopped playing the game due to not enjoying how the game DOESN'T hold your hand! Yeah, I'm used to games do it all for me, lol! I mean, a lot of games I've played just tell me what to do.

Now if you want to run guns blazing, you can't. This game isn't your typical average shooter game, it's got like that Resident Evil vibe to the guns, in a way not totally. Ammo is scarce, so use it wisely, and Health kits are too. You can though craft ammo and health kits, but you NEED a blueprint for said item to craft, or else you can't craft it. Which is WHY exploration is a HUGE thing in this game! Explore your surroundings! Some people don't like exploring, they find it boring.

For enemies to know HOW to defeat them, you need a Psychoscope, which this allows you to find out its weaknesses, plus allowing you to craft Typhon based Neuromods, which in that case allows you to basically BECOME the alien! You get their powers by researching them with the Psychoscope. Also, you will have to strategize how you defeat an enemy, cause they HURT! They're very powerful and you're NOT! Use the environment for example, there's plenty of things to use to kill your enemies, not just your guns.

Prey is an Immersive Survival Horror game, that tests you on what you're capable of, and how to overcome certain situations and obstacles. The game may tell you what you should do next, but only by reading emails and finding clues, will you then get side objectives. The map shows where your next objective is, but how to get there is totally up to you, it will NOT tell you how to get there, figure it out!

Prey 2017 wasn't supposed to be the next game to come out, Prey 2 was supposed to be coming out, but Bethesda told Arcane studios, "Hey, Prey 2 just doesn't match up to what OUR standards are, and you need to scrap this game and just make Prey", which Prey 2017 wasn't even supposed to have that name. The name Prey for Prey 2017 was ripped straight from the original game, "Prey 2006", and just had that name slapped onto the new game. And this bigger thing, Prey 2017 is a reboot from Prey 2006, and the game has NOTHING to do with Prey 2006. But, I'm pretty sure Prey 2017 does have some hints to the original game, I could be wrong though.

If you like games that don't hold your hand like a toddler, that doesn't know how to walk, you may or may not like Prey 2017. Thing is, Prey 2017 was poorly advertised, so its recognition went out the window, and so reviewers like IGN gave it a freaking 4 score! Don't listen to IGN, they literally give good games poor scores, and so Prey 2017 never got noticed, and its sales were VERY low! So low, that gamers refused to buy Prey 2017 and that hurt the sales even more.

Like I said, I haven't finished the game yet, but if I were you, give it a go, you may find something you like.
