As an actual game artist, I can tell you, this is no copy/pasta. They may have still used the original model and textures to start, but they have definitely added new geometry, created higher resolution textures, and made use of new maps to make it truly fit in with the graphical quality of the rest of the game. Plus they need to use new animations and rigging for it to work as well. As to why it looks just like the original, that is just what it is supposed to do.
