Fun game! Great art, cool story, very cute main character. Big difficulty spike at the end but nothing too crazy. Definitely worth your time!

Early Access Review
Amazing rogue like, especially for early access. This game has A LOT of content, with plans to add more. Engaging combat and fun to use weapons are the major selling points of this game for me.

Major Pros:
-Fun Combat
-Lots of variety per run
-Very well designed weapons
-Difficult but rewarding gameplay
-Good progression
-An interesting (if vague) story

Major Cons:
-Maybe a bit too high of a difficulty curve. The levels past the first boss ramp up the difficulty by a lot
-Generally one "best" build. The way they set up their stats and weapons makes it so that one stat is generally better
than others at any time. While this is not necassarily a bad thing, the other stats often tend to be niche instead of
always viable

Overall this game is definetly worth it, especially while on sale.

I have owned dungeon defenders since it came out and i enjoyed the game alot. at first dungeon defenders was a fun game for me to play with friends and attempt to progress past the current level I was stuck on. However, as more and more DLC were added that were basically necassary to buy in order to have the best gear and fight the most powerful enemies, the game became progressively worse.

Nightmare difficulty, while a fun experience simply does not feel rewarding, as the gear that drops is almost never better than the gear you will already have. Another point here that could be good or bad depending on what kind of player you are is that at nightmare difficulty, it is nearly impossible to beat the levels solo. You almost always either need to have every character at max level with good gear or play with 2 or 3 other people who have the characters that you do not.

Possibly the biggest problem with dungeon defenders is the community. The community is teeming with hackers and pretentious high level players. There were many hackers who would hack gear and then sell this gear for real money to new players or young people who didn't know better. People who bought hacked gear by accident would not only be ousted by the community but would also be banned by Trendy Net from playing online multiplayer, while the people who sold the gear in the first place would almost never get banned.

If you are going to buy Dungeon Defenders, I would reccomend playing only by yourself or with friends, and I would also reccomend that you stop playing the game once you have gotten past the campaign on insane difficulty. The game is enjoyable enough until that point, with many different strategies and many different fun ways to play. Past insane difficulty, the game becomes a constant grind that almost never feels rewarding.

TLDR: The game is fun playing with friends until you defeat insane difficulty, past there the community is terrible, the game doesn't feel rewarding and the flood of DLC is a money grab that is basically essential to buy to get anywhere past mediocre gear.
