I don't know how anyone could seriously defend this travesty of a game.
Do you like consistently re-used assets?
Do you like a tacked on upgrade system?
Do you like a lack of depth from it's predecessors?
Do you like horrible cover shooter mechanics and human enemies in your "Action-Horror" title?
Even on hard mode and Co-Op to do everything with a good friend, this game is laughably bad from the dialogue to the design decisions that EA obviously forced onto Visceral games. Whatever good ideas this game DID have, it's horribly overshadowed from it's faults. There are people people who say "this is a Dead Space game." But I'm sorry, they are just wrong, terribly wrong. Dead Space was never good at subtlety and was often it's Achille's heel when building up a good atmosphere but at least the first two games TRIED, this just turns everything up to 11 and has nothing to show for it. This is the Resident Evil 6 of Dead Space but the worst part, is unlike Resident Evil 6, Dead Space 3 is a BAD game even on it's own merits. 3/10 absolutely do not buy even on sale and with a friend.

EDIT: Clarified I got the game as a gift and I can't believe I forgot to mention the plethora of bugs me and my friend encountered, The amount of times we phased through an elevator or hallways only to plummet to our deaths is comical, I believe this has to do with running the game at a higher FPS than 30. What's odd is this has NEVER happened to me in the other 2 titles.
