I'd rather see it as a nice bonus that he is in the game at all.
It''s basically like meeting Leonardo Da Vinci in the earlier games; didn't have to happen, but it was a nice addition.
Napoleon graduated from École Militaire in 1785. He served on garrison duty in Valence and Auxonne until after the outbreak of the revolution in 1789. :)
Being born on 15 August 1769, Napoleon was almost 20 years old by the onset of the revolution (1789) - in other words yes; he WAS an adult and not a teen.
By the time he proclaimed himself emperor of France (1804), he was 35.
