Greetings. Thanks for viewing my profile. I'm an old gamer, starting out with military type board games in my youth, shifting my focus to computer games and online play in 2000. My primary interests in gaming lay in the genre of military, space, fantasy and ancient history. I have other interests as well and my game collection is quite varied. I have nearly always been involved in an online group, as I enjoy sharing a good game with friends. At the present time my focus is on the upcoming game Star Citizen.

Hey, thank you very much for the info. Mostly i am interested in a realistic battle simulation (wind, waves, ship mechanics,...) . I looked at the stuff from Naval Warfare Simulations and think this very detailed with the ship setups but reminds me more of work and excel sheets than a game ;) Saw the upcoming "Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnoughts" - the graphic customization of ships would suit me more. I did play "World of Warships" which is a nice game but it is a little bit too much arcade style and the business model is not acceptable. Atlantic Fleet caught my attention - though it has some bad reviews i'll give it a try for 10 bucks.

The upcoming War on the Sea looks very interesting also. Hopefully it will be as good at it looks. I own Ultimate Admiral: Dreadnought which is still being developed. It looks good so far, but really needs more work and a campaign. Hope this helps.

@player(2). It really depends on what you are looking for. I prefer games that are historic and realistic and have both strategic and tactical elements. Honestly, there are no games that I’ve tried yet that are exactly what I’m looking for. For me, the best naval tactical game was way back in 1999 or 98 with Fighting Steel by SSI. I still play it with some customization to play on modern machines, but the graphics are terrible by today’s standards. Some of the games I’d recommend would be: Rule the Waves II by Naval Warfare Simulations, Steam and Iron, also by Naval Warfare Simulations, and Atlantic Fleet by Killerfish Games which is a very good turn based naval game. If you are interested in early 20th Century naval combat, then you might try Storm Eagle Studios Jutland and Distant Guns (Russo-Japanese War).
