I am proud to say that I am an original KS backer and now Candle is definitely going to my very short "Favorites" list.

I won't go into a description or gameplay since you can see for yourself in the description and read in other reviews.

I haven't finished the game yet but felt compelled to write a review because this game is SO MUCH FUN. It's one of those few games that I look forward to and am excited for the next chance to play.

The dynamics are quite different from the usual side-scrolling platformers. Though I enjoy those, it's easy to forget that Candle is a platform game, especially with it's many "transport" areas and "walk arounds."

Some of the puzzles are challenging but not insurmountable. If you look around enough you'll find the clues to complete them. I sometimes get frustrated with some platform games where the mechanics are so hard that I give up. Candle does not lean heavily on that, though there are a couple areas (so far) where you have to get the timing right and it might take a few tries--hey, wouldn't be fun if it was too easy.

Great job Teku Studios! I will look forward to finishing this game and hope we see more from you!

A combination of Nonograms (or Griddlers) and HexCells. Much more difficult than either one, in my opinion. Very challenging but also very logical and doable.

I'm sure I'm going to be begging for more levels when I'm done.

I am a big puzzle/adventure fan and have successfully completed many complicated puzzle games, seldom relying on hints or walkthroughs.

I started out really, really liking this game. Great concept, artwork, story, soundtrack and atmosphere. I like "horror" games that aren't gory. At first, the "clues" actually lead you to the next clue, and the next.

I would say until you (slight spoiler) banish the first demon it's lots of fun. Then, shortly thereafter, things get much more complicated and, all of a sudden, you start getting stuck on almost every "puzzle". I found myself resorting to a walkthrough which I really, really hate to do. I played some more but it got so there was absolutely no logic to solving the puzzles and there was more and more reliance on the walkthrough.

I finally decided to just stop playing the game because of the no-logic puzzles. I want to feel like I'm playing the game, not following someone else.

This game is a lot of fun. It is a series of puzzles where you need to figure out how to open or operate different boxes or apparatus, find inventory objects and use them. The puzzles are challenging but not insurmountable. There are a limited number of "in-game" hints where you should not have to resort to any walkthroughs. Eventually it all leads to escaping from the room to find yourself in another room until you escape the "house" at the end.

An interesting storyline but, IMHO, unnecessary to enjoy solving all the puzzles.

It is relatively short (I played through in 7 hours) but well worth the low cost. In time, I think it will be replayable because I am now inspired to go back and replay the first "The Room." I read somewhere they are coming out with a 3rd one but I have not verified that.

If you enjoy a good puzzle game, I highly recommend this game!

This game is a puzzle game where you have to strategically place different blocks (that do different things) in order to move forward, progress in the game and go to the next level. Thus far, there is no story to the game, just the puzzles. I am currently on World 2, Level 1 with a little over four hours of game play. I may edit my review once I have completed the game but wanted to get a review of encouragement out there for those of you who may be contemplating buying it.

To give you a benchmark, there are a couple of similar games that come to mind: Portal (which I did not like) and Talos Principle (that I loved, though it had a rather complex story line to go with it).

I wasn't sure I was going to like it because a number of the (mostly negative) reviews talked about the platforming aspect. I like some platforming games but admit I've quit a couple because I got too frustrated with constantly falling and/or dying. Not so with this game. For me, it's been easier using the mouse and keyboard than the game controller. The best way to do the jumps, in my experience, is not to "look down" at the jump, but rather straight ahead.

Very challenging puzzles, but not insurmountable. I am enjoying the challenge.

**** Four Stars
Pros:
I really enjoyed this game. In spite of the pictures/videos it is NOT a horror game. There are things (puzzles if you will) that you need to figure out how to do in order to progress. They are challenging but not insurmountable. You only get very subtle hints as to what you need to do. There is no dialog but a hauntingly beautiful musical score. It's hard to give you an idea of the game without giving away some of its secrets so I won't even try. It's a fantastic feeling when you finally "break the code."
Cons:
The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars--this game is really short. I finished it in 6.6 hours and most of that time was spent walking around trying out different ways to solve a puzzle. And also "reading" a lot of things that weren't necessary to finish the game. I'm not sure it has any re-play value. Because it is so short, you're not going to forget what to do for very long.
At the end of the day:
I would buy this game again for its beauty, enjoyment and challenge . . . but I would probably wait for a sale.

This is probably the best platformer game I've ever played. You play Max, the big brother of Felix, who gets whisked away by a monster. You have to find your way through several kinds of obstacles and environments to save him with the help of the powers in a magic marker. Your marker gets new and different "powers" as you progress.

The graphics, atmosphere, music and voice acting are superb. Skill is required to use the controls but my favorite part of the game is having to think about how to solve the puzzles by using the powers in the right way.

The game has several levels and the replay value is enormous. I'm in my third playthrough and I'm sure I'll be playing it many times in the future.

This game was completely unplayable for me on Windows 7. I tried contacting the developers several times and did not get a response. I posted 3 times in the forums and only got one response that did not fix my problems. I paid full price for this game and it was wasted.

Fantastic game--will make any other game hard to live up to. Difficult to get used to the movement at first but once you "get it", probably the most realistic movement you will experience in a game. At first you don't know where you are or what you are supposed to do, but you figure it out as the game unfolds. In depth triangulation mapping system. No combat, though there is a foe! Items to find and create. Mysterious and intriguing storyline. Realistic and beautiful environments. Many hours of fun and a game to be played multiple times.

If you like adventure and exploration and you do NOT like combat and "shoot 'em ups"--you won't be disappointed.

This is one of the best games I have ever played. Interesting and challenging without being too challenging. Generally played very well on the PC. Several different "worlds" to explore--each one full of interesting puzzles. Graphics are phenominal. Hard to pull yourself away. Very interesting and different story line Lots of fun hours.
