TF2 is a game that I will always come back to for years to come. Here is why...

Item Market:
There are a plethora of cosmetic items ranging from free to thousands of dollars which can be obtained via in-game drops, crates, trades, and marketplace purchases. Some extreme players can make good money selling items. There are several TF2 trading websites where you can find just about any range of item you might be looking for.

Crafting:
You can craft hats! And various other things. You can scrap items for crafting metals, craft weapon stat clocks and kill counters, paint items, and rename or redescribe items within your inventory.

Player Selections:
There are 9 different classes to choose from and 4 different item configurations for each. That means that I have a lot of choices to keep me entertained. It also means I will need lots of items to dress them all up for battle.

Balance:
Luckily, none of the items you can purchase or craft will give you an extra advantage over any other player. Every player has the exact same stats to work with. Now there are certainly different types of weapons and attachments for each character, but they are very well balanced. The community is very helpful in pointing out when they feel like a weapon is over-powered, and the Devs are quick to respond and make changes when necessary.

Multiplayer:
Even with the most recent lobby changes, TF2 has a low wait time to join a match. There are a lot of good veteran players mixed with a steady stream of noobs, which makes for a well balanced meal of combat. I get a bit of a challenge while still enjoying the pleasure of destroying half the players on the field.

Maps:
TF2 has more maps than any other game I have played. There are different game modes like: melee only maps, cart pushing, capture the flag, robot hoard destroying, control point defending, and so much more. Most of the maps were created by the community, which leads to my next point...

Community:
There is a solid flow of great community items and maps being added to the game each year. The community votes on these new additions and the Devs work hard to get them into the game. But the greatest content produced by the community may very well be the videos submitted for the TF2 Saxxy Awards each year - created with the free Valve Source Engine. Also, the forums are full of suggestions, tutorials, and developer news. TF2 has a very active community.

I can say a lot more about how much I like the cartoony graphics, the funny voice actors, and the whimsical animations, but I think you can get a better idea of that stuff by watching the trailers. Have Fun!

My rating: 9.5/10
